9 Style Resolutions We Want These Celebs To Make In 2026

For quite a few celebrities, 2025 wasn't a great year for style. For some, like Sabrina Carpenter and Jennifer Lopez, this was a case of clinging to looks that worked for them once upon a time, but no longer have the same effect. For others, like Ariana Grande, certain outfits flopped because she ventured out into new aesthetic territory; Grande's personification of Glinda from "Wicked" has completely changed her style, and it hasn't always been for the better. In side-by-side pictures of Grande from her young pop star days compared to now, her transformation appears drastic. 

For other stars, 2025 brought with it some tough personal changes. Lily Allen separated from David Harbour after four years of marriage. Her response, a common one, was to veer into revenge dressing, but it hasn't gone well. But whether their questionable outfits were the result of a tumultuous change in their personal life, or simply being stuck in their ways, these celebrities would do well to switch things up in 2026 and come up with improved style resolutions. 

Ariana Grande has fallen into the "Wicked" rut, and while it's fine that she sports blond hair and pink ballgowns to play her character, it's not the best look for the singer in real life. On the red carpet for the Oscars in March 2025, the "No Tears Left To Cry" hitmaker made the worst-dressed attendees list for the Oscars thanks to her overly-whimsical, lampshade style dress. The cartoonish style that's accompanied her role as Glinda, not to mention her bleached-out eyebrows, is not flattering. For 2026, Grande would do well to return to her pop star past and bring back her brunette coloring and bolder street style.

Melania Trump's biggest fashion fails all have one thing in common, and that's her trench coats. The first lady loves bold outerwear, but in 2025, she rocked one too many statement trench coats. Her most notable one was the floor-length Kensington Heritage Burberry coat for her and Donald Trump's State Visit to the U.K. in September 2025. It was certainly an instance of diplomatic dressing, but it was still underwhelming. In 2026, the first lady should consider ditching the trench coat in favor of more flattering outerwear. 

Lauren Sánchez Bezos had a big year in 2025. In June, 2025, she got married to Jeff Bezos in Venice, and shortly after, donated enough money to become one of the lead sponsors of the 2026 Met Gala. While fashion is apparently an important thing to her, Sánchez Bezos' style remains perplexing. For an established and clearly influential woman, she continues to dress very young, opting for micro skirts and dresses, sheer body suits, and that infamous lace bustier that she wore to Donald Trump's inauguration in January 2025. In 2026, Sánchez Bezos ought to ditch the lingerie-inspired pieces and the party girl outfits in favor of a more elegant style.

Sabrina Carpenter leaned hard into doll-core fashion as her breakout style. While it worked in the past, and it helped put her on the map in the music industry, it's time for a change. Carpenter is still reaching for the bubblegum pink silhouette, with retro vibes and coquette-like features. Even in December 2025, when she arrived at the "Late Night With Seth Meyers" show, Carpenter showed up in a Barbiecore pink miniskirt and matching sweater and scarf. Sure, it was undeniably cute, but Carpenter is famous enough now that she can move beyond this recognizable uniform of baby doll clothing into a wardrobe that's more sophisticated. That's our wish for her in 2026.

Jennifer Lopez isn't afraid of risqué fashion choices, particularly when it comes to her stage outfits, but the repetition of bodysuits and high-cut leotards over the years is starting to come off as dull. It was the same old song and dance when she performed in Barcelona, Spain in July 2025; she wore a silver bodysuit and it felt like the same outfit that fans have seen her in year after year. If she wants to keep her status as a style icon for 2026, J.Lo needs to switch things up and try something new, especially when performing.

At least Kim Kardashian isn't in sweatpants anymore! Nonetheless, the reality TV star stepped out on the red carpet several times in 2025 wearing looks that seemed to get weirder and weirder. Take for instance, at the Academy Museum Gala in October 2025, she covered her entire face in a nude mask. Meanwhile, at the "All's Fair" premiere in London in October 2025, Kardashian wore an all-black outfit with a chaotic cluster of silver chains and multiple textures of fabric. There's no denying that Kardashian's a great beauty and can pull off most outfits; however, her looks have arguably become too outrageous and out-of-touch, even for haute couture. For 2026, she needs to turn back to some of those more classical silhouettes she rocked in the past and keep things simple. 

Elle Fanning loves a bold fashion moment, but in 2025, she got a little too experimental. From a floor-length denim jacket to a boxy Balenciaga skirt and shirt combo at the Fifth Annual Academy Museum Gala, Fanning opted for several aging, unflattering silhouettes. Her fashion resolution in 2026 needs to be a return to that classical glamour that she's so famous for, because she's killed it on red carpets before, and she can do it again. 

Teyana Taylor arrived at the Time100 Next event on October 30, 2025 wearing a sheer thong dress with a neckline that plunged all the way to her abs. To be sure, Taylor looked absolutely incredible, but the sheer dress, and naked dressing as a whole, has run its course. Once a scandalous feature of red carpets, the sheer dress has become too ubiquitous with celebrity style. In 2026, Taylor would do well to opt for some of the more creative looks that she's rocked in past events. 

Following her 2025 divorce from David Harbour in 2025, Lilly Allen came out with an album, "West End Girl," to give voice to her heartbreak. She also played into the classic bravado of revenge dressing following a high-profile split. When she attended the 2025 CFDA Awards in New York City in November 2025, Allen showed up wearing a sheer bra-style top with a tonal skirt and jacket. However, the styling came off as slightly over-the-top, and in 2026, Allen would be better served putting that spirit of revenge into music.
