But now, during Trump's second term, Melania is really stepping out of the safe zone, and showcasing her daring style. 

This was clearly the case when Melania and Donald Trump hosted a dinner at the White House for Saudi Arabia's Prince Mohammed bin Salman on November 18, 2025. The first lady emerged in a ruched, strapless green Elie Saab dress. The jaw-dropping gown, retailing for $3,350, was considered an example of diplomatic dressing, since Saudi Arabia's flag is green with white, Arabic lettering. It was her gesture of paying tribute to the country. Nevertheless, people had mixed reviews about the dress. Some absolutely loved it. "Stunning, elegant, and all class..." someone commented on Instagram. "The First Lady is absolutely gorgeous," another wrote. "She is looking absolutely stunning and beautiful," a third chimed in. However, others felt that the strapless dress was a risqué choice. "A more modest dress should have been worn," another commented on Instagram. "Beautiful but should have covered her shoulders," someone else wrote. "Very inappropriate," a third added. Melania's choice of dress was obviously spicy enough that it had people divided.

While her green, Elie Saab dress was different, both dresses featured an exposed décolletage and a more daring style than people are used to seeing on the first lady.
