Pics That Prove Ariana Grande Can Rock Any Hair Color

Ariana Grande has long been very vocal about her hair. The "Wicked: For Good" star spoke about why she likes to change up her tresses so often on the "Zach Sang Show" in 2020, agreeing when the host described hair as being a personal form of expression. "Especially when your hair kind of is something that you use to differentiate, you know what I mean?" Grande said, referring to changing her look between album eras. "The hair for me is such a guard, character façade type thing, and it has had its own evolution, but it has always been this kind of costume piece," she added. But Grande's inspiring hair evolution goes far beyond a subtle new style or slight color shift.

Grande has successfully pulled off almost every hair hue going during her years in the spotlight, sometimes using wigs for her bolder looks. "I had to bleach my hair and dye it red every other week for the first 4 years of playing Cat," she wrote on Facebook in 2014, referring to the Nickelodeon show "Victorious" and its spin-off "Sam & Cat." "As one would assume, that completely destroyed my hair. I now wear a wig on 'Sam & Cat.' My real hair is back to brown and I wear extensions but I wear it in a ponytail because my actual hair is so broken that it looks absolutely ratchet and absurd when I let it down," she added. But she certainly didn't leave new hues in 2014, because we have the pics that prove she can rock any color.

Red

When Ariana Grande first found fame with "Victorious" and "Sam & Cat," she had vibrant, deep red locks. Though the shade suited her skin tone and matched her fiery personality, Grande admitted on the "Zach Sang Show" she had no plans to bring the hue back. "The red was Cat and that was very much a character, and it was very much a portion of my life that I love and I am so grateful for," she said. "...I think fondly of that but it, again, is not me," she added.

Light blond

Ariana Grande made a drastic hair change in 2022 when she dyed her dark locks a light, sandy blond to play Glinda in "Wicked" and "Wicked: For Good." The star debuted her dramatic new look on Instagram, where her friends and fans were full of praise. "It looks BEAUTIFUL," one person commented. "It's the blond hair for me," another wrote. Though Grande could have opted for a wig while shooting, she didn't. The star dyed her locks for the role and went on to rock blond locks for four years.

Strawberry blond

When Ariana Grande attended the 2025 Golden Globes, her Glinda blond locks had evolved. Instead of the cool toned hue she'd worn since 2022, she wowed with a darker, strawberry blond shade with highlights that brought more color to her complexion. The mix of darker and lighter strands added dimension to her mane, and fans couldn't get enough. "Oh that STRAWBERRY BLONDE on her EATSSSSSS. Ugh ariana is back on her warm palette and the universe loves it," one X user wrote.

Dark brunette

Ariana Grande looks so different with her natural hair. That was clear in a snap from 2008 where she rocked what appeared to be her natural dark brunette and gorgeous true curl pattern. Grande's chest-length locks were super glossy and super dark, so much so her tresses almost looked black when she was snapped at a Planet Hollywood event. Though we're not used to seeing the "thank u, next" hitmaker with such deep brown hair, there's no doubt this shade suited her too.

Brunette/blond ombre

Long before Ariana Grande had fully blond locks, she dipped her toe into lighter hair with an ombre look. At the 2016 MTV Video Music Awards, her mane had dark, chestnut brunette roots that gradually transitioned into super light, cool blond ends. The star's ponytail may have been a hair piece or extensions that gave her natural tresses extra length and volume, but the eye-catching look certainly suited her sassy, glam image and put a fun twist on her trademark ponytail.

Icy lavender

Ariana Grande experimented with an icy lavender wig for her "Focus" music video in 2015. The hairpiece was the "No Tears Left To Cry" singer's coolest and lightest hair look ever, and the edgy look was perfectly sleek and edgy to suit the sultry "Dangerous Woman" era she was entering. The star was clearly a fan of the daring shade (and we don't blame her, because it looked gorgeous against her olive skin) because she went on to briefly sport a similar color in 2018, just with a little more pink in it.

Rich brunette

One of Ariana Grande's most famous hair shades is rich brunette. The star had glossy brown hair for some of her biggest musical eras, including when she transitioned from young Nickelodeon actor to pop superstar, so it's no surprise the hue is a fan favorite. After the hitmaker returned to brown hair and shared the proof via Instagram in 2025, her followers were sent into meltdown. "We're back amore," Grande's hair colorist Francesco De Chiara commented on the upload — which has more than 6 million likes — alongside two brown heart emoji.

White blond

When Ariana Grande performed at March For Our Lives in 2018, she showed off another of her lightest hair hues ever. The star's mane was a cool toned blond with highlights so light they were almost white, and her 'do was very similar to the one she wore on the cover of her "Sweetener" album. She wore the pale shade in an extra long, low ponytail that stretched almost as far down as her booty. The new color was perfect for ushering in a new musical era.

Pink

Pink hair is a power move, so it makes sense why Ariana Grande tried it in her sassy and bougie "7 Rings" music video. The chart-topper wore her hair in pigtail buns (which were, of course, adorned with rhinestones) with very long strands of bubblegum pink extensions that stretched down to her waist. The new look showed just how confident Grande had become and further cemented her status as a trend-setting pop star, though it was only temporary for the glossy video.
