When it came to fashion, Diane Keaton was the master at pulling off the menswear outfits that make you want to raid your boyfriend's closet. The "First Wives Club" star, who sadly passed away on October 11, 2025, at 79 years old, was known for rocking a tailored suit and coat on the red carpet and often accessorized with a jaunty bowler hat. Keaton made menswear chic while portraying her titular character in the 1977 film, "Annie Hall." She wrote in her book "Fashion First" that the film allowed her to express herself through fashion (via the Daily Mail). "My muses were the women of New York City who were walking the streets of Soho in baggy trousers and a blazer. I was layering pieces," Keaton recalled. She added, "By 1990, I began to wear a lot more suits and also found an obsession with cross necklaces, typically layered upon one another like a very devoted nun. I also threw in some bow ties and pocket squares."

Although Keaton had a signature style and didn't wear colorful gowns to events, her outfits were never boring. In fact, you could tell they were carefully selected and thought out, from her fitted jackets to details like a wide, waist-cinching belt. The late movie star always knew how to make an entrance, and her outfits will forever live on as legendary, just like Keaton.

Diane Keaton managed to make a seersucker suit look glamorous

Thom Browne has cemented himself as the menswear designer of today, and Diane Keaton brought his vision to life at his 2023 haute couture show in a dapper, light gray seersucker suit. The ensemble featured high-waisted pants with a super-wide belt, a tailored jacket, a matching vest, and a striped tie to complete the look. Of course, Keaton had to have fun with her 'fit, adding some flair with her platform oxfords. We especially love the darling dog-shaped woven handbag she flaunted, which was the perfect touch to her breezy suit.

She looked iconic in her black and white 'fit

While Diane Keaton loved a good suit, she occasionally stepped out in a skirt, as she did at the American Film Institute ceremony in 2017. That year, Keaton was honored with the Life Achievement Award, and dazzled in a long, bright white coat worn over a black turtleneck and puffy skirt. The Academy Award winner beamed as she posed on the red carpet with her cool-girl accessories — a black bowler hat and shiny leather ankle boots with white laces. She sure knew how to put together an effortlessly chic outfit.

She showed off her rock star side in a sequined blue suit

Plenty of celebs wear sequins on the red carpet, but no one has done so quite like Diane Keaton did at the 2021 LACMA Art + Film Gala. The "Book Club" star showed up in a sparkling navy suit over a light gray button-down shirt, accessorizing simply with a pair of black heeled boots and a beanie. She told The Gloss about her love of menswear, "There are so many wonderful things to love about a suit. The pants don't have to be too tight. Neither does the jacket ... Suits make me feel comfortable."

Her all-white Golden Globes look was a winner

Diane Keaton proved that an all-white outfit is never boring when she arrived at the 2004 Golden Globes in an ankle-length coat and a long tulle skirt. She added just a touch of sparkle to her look with a pair of glittery white boots and a lone string of pearls (a stunning jewelry trend for women over 40). Keaton's outfit that night wasn't the only winner, as she took home the best actress award for "Something's Gotta Give." We're sure she landed on many best-dressed lists for her gorgeous Golden Globes 'fit.

Keaton was the master of subtly mixing patterns

If you need a NYFW street style trend to wear for Fall 2025, look no further than Diane Keaton's look for the 2023 Ralph Lauren fashion show. The style icon looked timeless in a knee-length plaid gray coat, cinched at the waist with a wide black belt. Keaton knew just how to mix patterns, sporting a pair of gray striped pants that worked harmoniously with her plaid coat. As always, she finished things off with a black — the chef's kiss to her menswear-inspired aesthetic.

The rare time Diane Keaton wore a short dress

Diane Keaton is not known for showing off her legs, but in a rare 2015 moment, she went for a short (for her) balloon dress at the Hammer Museum's Gala in the Garden. Layered over a black form-fitting turtleneck, the fashion-forward dress's voluminous skirt stopped just at Keaton's knees. When asked about her outfit choice by the Los Angeles Times, the actor simply stated, "I thought I could highlight my legs." We love that Keaton made a bold choice and had fun while doing so.

She upped her menswear look with a classic tuxedo

Why wear a cumbersome gown when you can don a dashing tuxedo like Diane Keaton? The movie star ditched her regular suit for a black tux at the premiere of "The Family Stone" in 2005, making her really stand out. Keaton managed to put some flair into her classic 'fit, wearing a tuxedo with tails and opting for a pair of pointed-toed boots. A small black bowtie and white pocket square were the only accessories she needed, as her smile was brighter than any diamond, posing with her co-star, Craig T. Nelson.

She looked fierce in fiery red

Diane Keaton didn't often wear bright colors, but when she did, it was something to remember. In 2003, she waltzed into the Los Angeles Conservancy gala wearing a tomato-red leather coat over an all-black outfit. It was a nice splash of color against her dark color palette, particularly in tandem with pal Steve Martin's beige suit. Keaton opted for plain black ankle boots paired with sheer socks, and judging from her grin, she was totally feeling her look.
