Taylor Swift's Best & Worst Outfits In 2025
2025 was one of Taylor Swift's biggest years yet. So much so she should rename it 2020-thrive. Not only did she get engaged to the love of her life Travis Kelce, her "The Life of a Showgirl" album shattered records and sold 3.5 million copies in its first five days of release, per Billboard. Now that's impressive.
But Swift's wins stretched beyond her engagement and music success. She also scored major hits in the fashion world, as jaws dropped around the globe as she promoted the album that saw her dress up in ornate headdresses and risqué, embellished lingerie. But, as she knows all too well (Swift has had a few looks that just didn't work over the years), not every ensemble is a winner. With that mind, we're looking back at her best outfits of the year we added to our "Wi$h Li$t," as well as the worst looks that had us wishing they'd been "CANCELLED!"
Best: Her all-black look was a masterclass in sultry monochrome dressing
Taylor Swift was sexy and chic in her sultry, all-black ensemble in January. The beauty made the streets of New York's financial district look like runways in her chained blazer and mini skirt combo, while the thigh-high leather-look boots over sheer hosiery proved Miss Swift is all grown up. This outfit felt like a serious statement about embracing her sensuality (which we saw more of on "The Life of a Showgirl") and also allowed Swift's signature red lipstick to stand out.
Worst: Taylor Swift's matching black garments with crystal embellishments looked cheap
Taylor Swift also showed us how to wear black the wrong way in 2025. While promoting "The Life of a Showgirl" in London in October, she wore a high-neck, long-sleeved bodysuit with a matching mini skirt co-ord. Both David Koma pieces featured several large gemstones which, unfortunately, looked cheap when worn together (even though the pieces retailed for over $1,000 each). We'd have suggested the Pennsylvania native swap the skirt for plain black pants or blue jeans to balance out the in-your-face crystals.
Best: She made the whole place shimmer at the Grammys
Taylor Swift gave us an early taste of her Showgirl era at the 2025 Grammys. She wore a stunning, short, one-shoulder, sparkly red dress with a cinched waist and draping across her chest and hips. The gown fit her perfectly and she kept her accessories — from her shoes, to that "T" charm over her thigh, to her earrings — matching, which made a stunning scarlet statement. Not only was the look appropriate for the event, it made the woman of the moment stand out amid the other red carpet gowns.
Worst: Her sparkly skirt was too boxy
Though Taylor Swift's outfit when she visited Hits Radio was far from her worst ever, her bedazzled skirt was ill-fitting. We loved that she brought some Showgirl glam to her interview and used the sandwich method of styling to make her skirt the statement piece. However, the garment was too boxy and didn't flatter the "All Too Well" singer's tall frame, making her waist look wider. The skirt would have worked better with a slouchy, oversized sweater tucked in, as the juxtaposition between the two would have softened its shape.
Best: Taylor Swift wowed in champagne sequins on The Tonight Show
Taylor Swift slayed the fashion game when she appeared on "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon" in October. Her champagne, sequin, one-shoulder, mini dress was glamorous and elegant but still a little spicy, as it showed off her enviably toned legs. We adored the way the star kept her whole palette neutral and perfectly matched her heels to her dress, as the hue complimented her skin tone and cool-toned hair. This wasn't just one of her best looks of 2025, it was one of her best ever.
Worst: Her all-beige Stanley Cup outfit washed her out
When Taylor Swift appeared alongside Travis Kelce at game four of the Stanley Cup final in June, she wore a beige jacket with matching shorts and super high-heeled boots in the same shade. While we can understand the attempt at neutral monochrome look, the super light shade washed her out. On top of that, her super glam footwear didn't scream sporting event (and were probably difficult to walk in up and down the stairs). Thankfully, her classic red lip brought some color to her look, but something more vibrant would have been more flattering against her fair skin.
Best: Taylor Swift's gold gown for Selena Gomez's wedding gave us elegant Fearless vibes
Taylor Swift gave us "Fearless"-era vibes when she attended bestie Selena Gomez's wedding in September. Her ethereal, gold, A-line dress with floral detailing and subtle sequins showed off her gorgeous figure. The warm tone looked so elegant against her mousy locks and red lip, and was ideal for the autumnal season. It also warmed up her skin tone to give Swift a gorgeous glow. The gown was a big hit with Swifties, as one X user commented, "Wow what an amazing dress!"
Worst: Her brown studio look was so bland
We get why Taylor Swift wanted to feel comfortable while recording her "The Life of a Showgirl" album, but her shapeless, brown sweater, khaki pants, and boots combo felt uninspired and looked bland. The dark sunglasses indoors felt like an odd choice too, particularly considering Swift takes her wardrobe each era so seriously and she was creating some of her most fun, upbeat music ever. Swift shared the snap in an Instagram carousel featuring some of her other recording outfits, which included a much more on-brand pink sweater and colorful jeans.
Best: Taylor Swift's late night mini dress turned heads
Taylor Swift's strapless, super short, muted mini-dress on "Late Night with Seth Meyers" in September was jaw-dropping. The superstar accessorized with sky-high peep-toe slingbacks and a chunky necklace that elevated the look from somewhat head-turning to seriously striking, proving she knows how to accessorize. This was another ensemble that demonstrated Swift's sultry, grown-up side — and fans couldn't get enough. "The look," one Instagram user wrote with a heart on fire and overheated emoji.
Worst: Her green dress wasn't practical
We have to give Taylor Swift props for taking time out of her busy schedule to visit a children's hospital in June, but, unfortunately, her light green dress wasn't flattering or practical. It featured a loosely-tied sash around her waist which, although fun and quirky, added too much bulk to her middle. She would have created a cleaner silhouette had she tied it at the back. The other problem? As Miss Americana bent down to give hugs to fans, the dress wrinkled and dragged on the floor, which wasn't hygienic.
