Miranda Lambert Has Donned Some Inappropriate Outfits Over The Years

It's hard not to admire Miranda Lambert's effortless style. The confident country queen stays true to her southern roots and prefers to wear what makes her feel comfortable. "I really love jeans ... The dress-up for awards shows thing isn't really me; it's okay for a day, but I'm definitely ready to get back in my jeans once it's over," she told OK!. The "Wranglers" singer shared a similar sentiment when discussing choosing her 2024 Las Vegas residency wardrobe with WWD. "I'm not a clothes person, I'm a jeans and T-shirt girl," she said.

Lambert being a self-confessed high-fashion avoider may explain why not only have some of her outfits missed the mark, they've been downright inappropriate. She's been underdressed on the red carpet, accidentally flashed her booty on stage, and risked a major wardrobe malfunction in a risqué awards show gown. So prepare yourself as we look back at her questionable choices, because we can feel a (fashion) sin comin' on.

Her miniskirt couldn't have made golfing easy

Miranda Lambert's golf ensemble in a 2025 Instagram video didn't scream practical. The country star updated fans on her progress for the celebrity Ryder Cup wearing a white top tucked into a short, light turquoise skirt. She adopted a wide stance to hit the ball, but seemed restricted by the garment, which rose up on her thigh. We're not saying this talented star can't wear a skirt to play sport (because she slayed this one), but a garment with a little more give would have likely made golfing easier.

Miranda Lambert's denim miniskirt showed more than she intended

Miranda Lambert had everyone talking in the summer of 2025 when she exposed more than she bargained for on stage. A TikTok video went viral showing the singer performing in a distressed denim miniskirt that flashed part of her behind. Of course, Lambert can wear whatever she wants on stage, but considering she probably didn't intend to show so much skin (and children may have been in the audience) wearing short shorts underneath wouldn't have been the worst idea. "Poor judgement," one X user wrote of the look.

Her fur coat stirred controversy

Considering Miranda Lambert is outspoken about her love of animals (she even founded the MuttNation Foundation, which aims to stop animal cruelty), seeing her pose in a fur coat on Instagram in 2015 was totally inappropriate. Lambert confirmed it was a gift from her grandmother, writing, "I definitely know where I got my love for DIAMONDS, FUR and WHISKEY!" But fans weren't happy. "Oh i thought you 'loved animals'? no. got it," one Instagram user hit back. Peta also slammed the singer in a statement. "We had higher hopes," they said (via E! News).

Her 2013 ACMs dress risked a serious wardrobe malfunction

Though Miranda Lambert looked stunning at the 2013 ACM Awards, her sultry, black dress wasn't appropriate considering she didn't couldn't hold it up after winning three awards. Prior to Lambert's transformation after divorcing Blake Shelton, she was photographed pulling up the plunging gown before posing for photographers, but struggled to keep it place while clutching her new statues. As good as she looked, her excitement was probably somewhat quelled by the prospect of exposing her chest to awaiting photogs when she should have been enjoying her moment in the spotlight.

Her short dress and stiletto heels on muddy ground could have been dangerous

Miranda Lambert likely encountered a few problems in her super short, print dress and heels. In a snap shared via Instagram that showed her posing alongside her husband, the singer stood on bark chippings while wearing stilettos and a skimpy dress that finished high on her thigh. The "Kerosene" hitmaker looked gorgeous, but we were concerned about how she'd recover if her skinny heel got stuck in the ground and made her trip. Not only could a fall have been dangerous, she'd likely have exposed a lot of skin, too.

Her all-denim ensemble was too casual for an award show... even a country music one

For the 2021 ACM Awards, Miranda Lambert was ahead of the curve in one of 2025's biggest trends; double denim. But her bell-bottom jeans, shirt, jacket, cowboy boots and hat combo was too casual for a red carpet. Lambert looked underdressed compared to her peers, as the likes of Kelsea Ballerini, host Mickey Guyton, and Tenille Arts all wowed in black tie-worthy gowns. Lambert had dialed up the glam on so many ACM red carpets before too, so this was a missed opportunity to shine.

Her exposed bra look wasn't appropriate for a charity event

Miranda Lambert wore a navy suit with a black lace trim to the T.J. Martell Foundation 49th annual New York Honors Gala in 2024. She was sans a shirt though and exposed her boned top, which looked like a sheer, black, longline bra. For any other event, this ensemble would have been chic, as it gave us Kate Middleton fashion statement pantsuit vibes (just a little spicier). But for a charity event aiming to raise funds for cancer research, the bare chest and lingerie vibe felt inappropriate.

She wore a dress so short she had to cover herself with her clutch

There's nothing wrong with a low-cut, short dress at an awards show, but Miranda Lambert's sparkly, long-sleeved blue number at the 2022 CMT Awards was so short it became impractical. Lambert spent a lot of the evening sitting down and had to place her pink clutch over her legs to avoid a wardrobe malfunction. She also courted a potential issue on stage, as the low angle cameras and fans standing close to the stage may have seen more than she intended to show.
