Christina Haack is the queen of long hair, which is why we're obsessed with her signature braids that she rocks so often. There's an interesting reason that Haack sports small side braids; the house flipping star frequently wears hair extensions, and the textured braid helps to hide the underpinnings of her extra hair. Haack's world of hair extensions is a new thing. When she first broke out on the scene with "Flip or Flop" on HGTV in 2013, Haack looked completely different with short hair. But since that pilot episode, Haack has stepped up the glam game and really changed her look, including her long, blonde locks. In fact, Haack's hair transformation through the years is a sight to see. But it hasn't happened without a few errors. Haack suffered a few rookie hair extension mistakes that were hard to ignore. But over time, she's gotten the hang of it.
The house flipping star serves up big hair inspo with that accessory side braid, which is why we're so interested in recreating it. These little braids add volume and intrigue to a simple hairstyle. Whether you're disguising hair extensions or not, Haack's boho braids are worth experimenting with. The minimal effort it takes to quickly complete a small side braid makes the overall look much more appealing; the hair has dimension and texture, with a touch of whimsy.
Christina Haack opts for a loose, textured, Dutch side braid
Christina Haack's signature accent braid is incredibly easy to achieve, but the payoff is major. In a tutorial on YouTube by Cute Girl Hair Designs, the stylist recommended getting started by using a volumizing product, like the COLOR WOW Xtra Large Bombshell Volumizer foam. Blow-dry the hair, then style as desired. Haack tends to go for curls, so use a curling iron to recreate her bouncy, beachy waves.
Cute Girl Hair Designs pointed out that a side part tends to work best for an accent braid, since there's more hair to work with. However, Haack, known to love a middle part, does her boho accent braid with her hair parted down the center, so it's up to you. Once the hair is parted and styled, take a section of hair about two inches away from the forehead to leave some face-framing layers. Separate the layers closest to the face with a clip. Take about two inches of hair at the crown of the head and divide that hair into three small sections. Then, begin braiding. Take the outer section and cross under the middle section, pulling a little more hair in each time you cross under to create a Dutch braid. Haack never completes her braids all the way to the end. So once the braid reaches your ear, secure it with a small, clear elastic. Then, gently pull out sections of the braid to give it an effortless finish.
