Jill Taylor From Home Improvement Is Nearly Unrecognizable Today
Patricia Richardson captured our hearts as Jill Taylor on "Home Improvement," with the Maryland native playing the wife of Tim Allen's character on the '90s sitcom. The on-screen mom met the antics of her machismo husband and boisterous sons head-on, bringing her own dose of sarcasm and comedy to the house. "I've always said, I don't want to play the thankless wife," she told The LA Times. Still, it's been several decades since the celeb took on the role of Jill, with fans who haven't kept up with the Hollywood figure likely to find her nearly unrecognizable today.
Gone are the brunette tresses of her sitcom days, with Richardson embracing a silvery-white shade in their absence. She captured the natural color transition on Instagram, sharing a selfie that showed a fading brown color at the end of her shoulder-length hairstyle. "Ok here we have covid hair grow out," she captioned the 2020 post. "Just don't want to cut it! So.... new covid fashion raccoon hair?" The "Strong Medicine" actor has since committed to embracing full gray, joining the list of celebrities who are confronting aging with confidence.
Although political posts make up a significant portion of her Instagram feed, occasional selfies and media appearances offer a glimpse into Richardson's modern-day style. In place of the button-up plaids and '90s-style vests of her sitcom character, she seems to favor dark colors and classic silhouettes. An example of this comes from a SAG-AFTRA screening of "Chantilly Bridge," with the star brightening up her classic pantsuit with a pink blouse and floral neck scarf. The overall look brings a polished and chic vibe that feels fitting for the star's current chapter.
Patricia isn't interested in doing a Home I
Since classic sitcoms like "Full House" and "Boy Meets World" have gotten reboots, we're sure that long-time fans of "Home Improvement" wouldn't mind if the '90s series were to also make a comeback. Tim Allen has even continued his sitcom legacy on his own with shows like "Last Man Standing" and "Shifting Gears," with the stunning Kat Dennings even starring in the latter series. Even so, just as Patricia Richardson has moved on from her "Home Improvement" look, she's also content with leaving the beloved sitcom in the past.
"I'm not involved in any kind of series with Jill," she clarified in an interview with the "Back to Best" podcast. "Also, [I've] never even been asked to do another Home Improvement reunion thing, but I would not want to." The "Snow Bride" actor went on to explain that many of the key actors would be unavailable to return, with Earl Hindman, who played beloved neighbor Wilson, passing away in 2003. Taran Noah Smith and Jonathan Taylor Thomas, who played respective sons Mark and Randy, have both moved on from acting, while Zachary Ty Bryan has racked up several criminal charges since playing Brad.
Given that Allen and Richardson fall on opposite sides of the political spectrum, and both are fairly open about their views, it's possible that the two wouldn't even be able to work together anymore. Ultimately, though, the former "Home Improvement" star expressed contentment with the show that was created. "I think we did it well," Richardson said. "We quit at the right time before it got really bad and it should just stay like it is."
