7 Times Sophie Grégoire Trudeau Proved She's A Fashion Icon

Sophie Grégoire Trudeau, former wife of Justin Trudeau, has always been comfortable in the public eye, and her long-standing status as a fashion icon proves this. When she was in the role of wife to the Prime Minister of Canada, Sophie put a lot of emphasis on Canadian designers, showcasing their art for the world. "Any opportunity to strut Canadian design on the international stage is important and desperately needed by Canadian designers," Canadian fashion influencer Jeanne Beker said to The Kit of Sophie's patriotic commitment to fashion. 

Sophie and Justin announced their separation in August 2023, after 18 years of marriage and raising three children together. While Sophie has joined the ranks of celebrities who've had a post-divorce glow-up, the truth is she's always been stylish. Whether married or freshly single, Sophie exhibits a classy combination of timeless outfits with a refreshing jolt of color. There are certain celebrities we wish would take more fashion risks because basic is boring, but Sophie isn't one of them. From jumpsuits to body-con dresses, Sophie is dashing and fearless. 

Sophie Grégoire Trudeau attended the Billboard Canada Women in Music 2024 awards in Toronto in September 2024. She wore a ravishing, bodycon blue dress with a black, leather jacket. The dress was embellished with a beaded, floral design, and Grégoire Trudeau amped up the sex appeal by accessorizing with strappy heels. The event occurred after she and Justin Trudeau separated, and it was one of her first public events following the big news. She looked radiant and chic, proving that single life looks good on her. 

Sophie Grégoire Trudeau was an absolute dream at the coronation of King Charles III in May 2023. She and Justin Trudeau arrived at Westminster Abbey in London with Sophie arguably stealing the spotlight. She wore a pale pink Ted Baker dress, paying homage to England by choosing a U.K. designer, when her usual choice is to stay loyal to Canadian designers. But her decision certainly made sense considering the occasion. The dress featured sheer, puff sleeves, adding to its whimsy. Sophie Grégoire Trudeau nailed an all-white look in June 02, 2023 when she attended the World Eating Disorders Action Day Luncheon 2023 National Alliance For Eating Disorders x Mental Health Coalition at United Nations in New York City. She paired very chic, wide-leg trousers with a blue top and a matching jacket, complete with detailed embroidering to add interest and dimension. She wore her hair down long, and managed to toe-the-line of looking professional yet approachable and relaxed.

Bold red tones remain one of the hottest color trends for summer 2025, so it's no wonder that Sophie's jumpsuit to greet the crowds on July 1, 2019 for Canada day caught so much attention. The fire engine red ensemble was just right for the semi-formal daytime occasion, featuring an asymmetrical shoulder and flared pants. To keep the focus on the unique neckline, Trudeau wore her hair pulled back in a low ponytail. 

In 2018, Canada hosted the G7 Summit in Charlevoix, Quebec. Justin Trudeau and Sophie Grégoire Trudeau welcomed other major world leaders, but it was Sophie who kept all eyes on her thanks to her playful, pink dress. Making Canada proud, Sophie managed to beat the princess in terms of style and dazzle-power. While the photo is already impressive on it's own — she was biking in the snow –  what makes it particularly memorable is her style. She was the ultimate hip mom with her gold helmet, a sporty purple puff coat, and black and pink cleats.
