Blake Lively Fashion Fails That Prove Celebs Are Human Too

Blake Lively famously does not work with a stylist, so the star is responsible for her looks all on her own. This is impressive when her outfits work, and many times they do. Just look at Lively's long list of stunning Met Gala looks; there are some impressive ensembles there. However, Lively doing it all herself means that she's stepped out more than a few times in getups that just didn't land. There have been several times where Lively was caught wearing outdated trends. And to this point, Lively has rocked several looks that make us wonder if she does need a stylist after all

When asked by WWD in 2018 why she doesn't work with someone, Lively said: "Probably because I have control issues and a big ego – that's probably the honest answer." Bringing up more recent issues surrounding Lively, like all of the drama around her 2024 film "It Ends With Us," directed by Justin Baldoni, who was also a co-star, this comment about her big ego and penchant for control hasn't aged well. While Lively might be on the most-disliked list in Hollywood at the moment, her outfits themselves still evoke interest. She still manages to step out there in a daring way, and we've got to admire that. So even her misses can conjure up some compassion. We've all donned something that's flopped, and that all-too-human experience is part of Lively's history, too.

Blake Lively's all-white look was a miss

Conjuring up a throwback to her "Gossip Girl" days, Blake Lively attended an event in 2008 where she wore all white. The concept behind the idea was fine, but the execution left much to be desired. The flouncy halter top, complete with a chest full of ruffles, looked busy with the long sash that went down her leg. On top of that, her pants bunched at the ankles, and the final effect was one of too much fabric in the same tone.

People trolled Blake Lively's Super Bowl 2024 outfit

For the 2024 Super Bowl, Blake Lively joined Taylor Swift to watch the Kansas City Chiefs beat the San Fransisco 49ers. For the occasion, Lively wore a red Balenciaga x Adidas tracksuit along with an excess of gold bangles. People were not a fan of the look for a few reasons. For one, TikTokers trolled Lively for such an expensive look, noting that the pants alone were $3790, and it seemed completely out of touch. To make matters worse, people found the overpriced look ugly. "[R]ich people with bad style will never cease to amaze me," one person commented on TikTok. "This might be one of the ugliest clothing items ever created. Blake has the WORST taste," another wrote."[H]er Super Bowl outfit is making me like BL less and less," a third chimed in. It was definitely a miss.

Blake Lively's Chanel outfit landed her on the worst-dressed list

Pajama time! Blake Lively attended the Chanel Tribeca 2024 Festival Artists dinner in New York City wearing a two piece getup by the brand itself. The matching top and wide-leg pants were busy with flowers and the Chanel logo, and Lively wore her hair in her signature beach waves. Unfortunately, she got roasted online for such a big, brash outfit. "Someone get her a stylist," one person began on Instagram. "Just cause you wear designer does not mean you have style." Another chimed in: "At this point she's gotta know how bad her style is and I think she may be doing it on purpose." Ouch! People did not jive with this look.

Blake Lively wore her Versace underwear inside out

Blake Lively accidentally wore her underwear inside out and admitted to it. While doing press for "It Ends With Us" in New York City in August 2024, the star stepped out two days in a row in almost the exact same outfit. The big difference was the brand band on her underwear that peeked out over her jeans. On the first day, viewers could see the black side of the band, with Versace backwards. On the second day, Lively switched it and had the pink side showing, which is how the piece was intended to be worn. "I wore this yesterday. But I wore my underwear inside out," she told reporters at the event. "So I wore it wrong and I can't do that to Versace." Lively admitted that she had been in a hurry the first day, and that's how the mistake happened.

Blake's mustard and ketchup combo was a no

While continuing to promote "It Ends With Us" in New York City in August 2024, Blake Lively opted for primary colors. She stepped out in a red, floral mini dress by Versace, along with yellow floral tights and red shoes. Each piece was so dazzling that it would have been better if she had chosen one item to highlight instead of combining both. Plus, anyone in New York in August knows that tights are an absolute no, considering how hot and muggy the city gets. We're sweating just looking at the yellow addition. The red dress would have shone without them.

Blake Lively makes a risky choice with an open blazer

While doing more press for "It Ends With Us," Blake Lively arrived in London in August 2024 in a white, oversized pantsuit. Considering how big the tailored piece was, Lively went for a jolt of sex appeal by going topless underneath the open blazer. This was a risky choice, considering how breezy it was that day, and in one moment, Lively had to clutch her jacket closed as the wind picked up. Wardrobe malfunctions are inevitable, but this was perhaps a little too daring of a decision.

Blake Lively's latex dress was a no from fans

For the premiere of "Another Simple Favor" in March 2025, Blake Lively wore a custom-made Reneé Masoomian latex dress in dusty rose with black embellishments along the hem. Lively also wore an overcoat in the same latex fabric upon her arrival but took it off, which was fortunate because it looked like a rain coat. On X, someone referenced this latex look and wrote, "I've never understood why Blake Lively was considered a fashion icon." Noting that the event was held in Texas, latex certainly seemed like a strange choice, considering the heat and how stifling the material must be.
