Reba McEntire Has Worn Some Spicy Outfits Over The Years

Reba McEntire may have worn a few outfits that had us cringing, but that just means she's not afraid to take fashion risks. Though the country legend has toned down her wardrobe a little as she's aged, she still has decades of spicy outfits we can't get enough of.

Take the iconic red dress she wore not once, but twice. At the 1993 Country Music Awards, the hitmaker had jaws on the floor in a provocative dress with a deep V covered by mesh and rhinestones. The eye-catching gown also featured trumpet sleeves and a high neck, making it one her most risqué looks to date. "It was very revealing and I didn't know that! I had only had two fittings with [designer] Sandy Spika. When I put it on in the dressing room ... I thought, 'Maybe it's just the lighting in here.' And when I walked out on the stage, I heard the audience go 'Oooooh!' And I thought, 'Dang, I look good!'" she told People. And she did. So good McEntire slipped back into the iconic ensemble 25 years later.

The superstar shared side by side images of herself on Instagram, joking in the caption that she'd toned down her tresses – McEntire was in the XXL phase of her hair transformation – and added slippers. But she looked just as flawless as the first time around, and fans let her know. "Love that dress, I remember it well," commented one Instagram user. A second shared, "Still looks stunning in that red dress ... Beautiful." But that's just one of the spicy outfits McEntire has stunned us with.

Reba McEntire rocked feathers and sequins at the 2012 ACM Awards

Reba McEntire proved that sometimes, more really is more, when she co-hosted the 2012 Academy of Country Music Awards alongside Blake Shelton. Her sparkly gold gown featured a plunging neckline and sequins from head-to-toe, with rows of brown-orange feathers from her feet to her thighs that resembled rising flames. Totally appropriate seeing as the "Turn On The Radio" singer looked so hot. Not only did the look have all eyes on her as co-host, it also brought the glitz and glam of Las Vegas, where the show was held, in a fun and fabulous way.

The country star stunned in a nude illusion gown at the Golden Globes

When Reba McEntire stepped out for the 1993 Golden Globe Awards, she showed skin without showing skin. The beauty wowed in a black gown which featured a classic skirt and lace long-sleeved top over a nude bodice. Though it may have looked provocative, the lining ensured the look was still sophisticated, but with a fun twist. We've got to give McEntire props for being ahead of her time too, as the sheer clothing trend went on to become huge exactly two decades later.

Her strappy fringe and sequin number had us dazzled

In 2018, Reba McEntire put her own spin on Christmas attire with a dress that had all eyes firmly on her. She looked gorgeous in a fully sequined, knee-length garment with an embellished fringe skirt that turned up the holiday glam in an unexpected way for "CMA Country Christmas." We love that the singer kept things more interesting via the straps, too. Instead of a traditional top, the dress had multiple strips of sparkly material over her shoulders to make this look extra spicy.

She brought animal print and embellishments together at the 2018 ACM Awards

Also in 2018, Reba McEntire wore a bold look only she could pull off when she slipped into a zebra print black-and-silver dress at the ACM Awards. The vivacious, plunging look with elaborate rhinestone embellishments was a risk and could easily have looked tacky on the wrong person, but McEntire's confidence and her penchant for out-there fashion meant she pulled it off like the pro she is.

Reba McEntire gave us a masterclass in showing shoulder at Christmas

Exposed shoulders aren't the first style choice that springs to mind for Christmas looks, but Reba McEntire made a case for it via her "CMA Country Christmas" gown when she performed with Kelsea Ballerini in 2017. The fabulous green dress had a long velvet bottom and a lace top with a lined bodice. The bedazzled, elongated trumpet sleeves added an edgy and unexpected twist, while the strappy top kept the look feeling youthful, not stuffy (which is all too easy to do when winter dressing). Had she worn this flattering look in 2024, she wouldn't have ended up on our worst dressed list.
