The Outdated Accessory Karoline Leavitt Can't Seem To Leave Behind
White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt has a soft spot for Louis Vuitton. We know because we've seen her carrying several different bags by the luxury fashion house, all heavily branded. In February 2025, she left the south lawn of the White House wearing a black and white dress by Lichi, carrying a Neverfull MM tote bag by Louis Vuitton that retails for $2,130. In April 2025, several X users reposted a selfie Leavitt took in an elevator, where she carried a white Louis Vuitton monogram messenger bag that retails for $4,800. Clearly, Leavitt won't stop carrying around handbags cluttered with logos and branding.
But while luxury bags are always in style, there's a current shift in taste, and people are no longer seeking heavily branded purses. Bags with logos everywhere are at the top of the list of outdated jewelry and accessory trends to kick to the curb in 2025. Since quiet luxury — or silent luxury — is trending hard, purses that don't advertise brands are more desirable. Leavitt should take note of this sartorial shift. On top of that, with President Donald Trump's tariffs sparking fears of recession, is it really a great look that the White House press secretary is sporting flashy accessories that are prohibitively expensive to many people around the world? We think not.
Logo bags aren't Karoline Leavitt's only fashion fail
Karoline Leavitt seems to have one wardrobe fail after another, and her love of branded handbags is just one example. Leavitt has sported several outfits that have totally missed the mark, failing to match the tone of various serious political events. And she may have only been 27 when she took the job as press secretary, but she dresses like someone much older. Leavitt's worst outfits all have one thing in common — they age her — and our guess is that she's being influenced by her much older husband, Nicholas Riccio. He's 32 years older than her, and she dresses like she's in his age bracket.
We want to cut Leavitt some slack; it's not uncommon to be cautious when new to a job, so maybe she's dressing older out of a desire to look like she's up to the task. She's also under constant media scrutiny, since she's literally the spokesperson for Trump, and he's routinely accused of lying or, at the very least, stretching the truth. In January 2021, The Washington Post reported Trump lied 30,573 times in his first term. So Leavitt certainly has her hands full, and her wardrobe malfunctions may indicate that she's busy. However, she keeps rocking handbags with logos all over them, and it's one more way her wardrobe falls flat.
