Affordable Dupes For Kate Middleton's Favorite Perfume

We're always on the hunt for the perfect fragrance, and when one gets the royal stamp of approval, we're even more intrigued. Luxury British fragrance line Jo Malone London has captivated Catherine, Princess of Wales, for quite some time. Founded in 1990, perfume house is one of the most popular and respected luxury brands on the market. Catherine has been a long-time fan of the brand's citrusy classic, Orange Blossom Cologne. In fact, Catherine loved the scent so much that when she married Prince William, she had candles made from Jo Malone's Orange Blossom scent and filled Westminster Abbey with the fresh fragrance, per Vogue

It's understandable why the Jo Malone perfume line is so beloved. The fragrances are all designed to be gender-neutral, a trend that's become increasingly popular in the world of scent. But makes the cult-favorite Orange Blossom Cologne so special is its unique ingredients. Its known for smelling like clementine flowers and orange blossom, giving it a bright, floral scent with a mellow hint of citrus. It also contains essence of vetiver and orrisroot, the latter of which the BBC notes is one of the most rare and expensive perfume ingredient in the world. Vetiver, meanwhile, comes from the root of a wild grass. Together, these ingredients form a fragrance with the perfect balance of citrus, depth, and richness. With that in mind, it shouldn't be very surprising that the Orange Blossom Cologne is on the pricier side. A 100ml bottle from Sephora retails for $165 USD. Thankfully, we've found some viable dupes for this luxurious scent.

Clémentine Bisous Eau De Parfum by Le Monde Gourmand

True to its name, Clémentine Bisous Eau De Parfum has top notes of clementine, bringing in an invigorating, fresh citrus scent that closely aligns with the Jo Malone classic. It offers warm, floral undertones from frangipani essence, and depth from sandalwood, creating a perfect balance of fruity, lightly sweet, and woody. In reviews, customers had a lot of good things to say about the fragrance. "I was on the hunt for an everyday summer perfume for my trip to the South of France," one person began. "This one did not disappoint! It's light, refreshing, uplifting, and not overpowering. The citrus notes simmers off to a nice earthy floral scent that lingers on the skin nicely, so it feels like it's just your natural scent instead of a strong perfume. I do wish the citrus was a little bit stronger but overall I really enjoy this perfume!" U.S. shoppers can pick up a 30ml bottle of the fragrance at Urban Outfitters for $25 USD; a fraction of the price of Jo Malone Orange Blossom, which sells its 30ml bottle for $80 USD.

The Body Shop's Full Orange Blossom Eau de Parfum

Although not explicitly dubbed a mimic of Jo Malone, The Body Shop's Full Orange Blossom Eau de Parfum is considered by some to be a suitable alternative to the famous fragrance.  The gender neutral scent combines floral, fresh scents with notes from bergamot, orange blossom, neroli, and vetiver. "Beautiful scent that lasts for ages. It's hard to find an affordable orange blossom scent – it's wonderful," one person wrote. Others have praised it for getting the right balance of floral, orange, and fresh without one overpowering the other. "Perfumers get orange blossom wrong all the time. At $46 dollars for a 75ml bottle, the fragrance is a steal compared to Jo Malone's, which is $80 for half the amount of product. According to reviewers, it's worth the investment. Similar to Jo Malone, citrus is a predominant scent here; though it's with grapefruit and clementine top notes, rather than floral orange blossom. Vanilla as a base note brings added sweetness, while bergamont and sweet orange come through on the middle notes. "This scent smells like warm sugared citrus. So Yummy!" one customer wrote on the company website. "It is uplifting and subtle but it's perfect for me." Although it lacks the floral profile of the luxury perfume, fans of Jo Malone like are likely to appreciate this alternative for its mild profile. One reviewer wrote, "This scent is fairly perfect. It is light, orange with a hint of creme. To describe it like a creamsickle is incredibly accurate, but it isn't sickly sweet" A 5ml roller bottle retails for $28 on the Carter and Jane website before tax and shipping.
