The 4 Most Stubborn Zodiac Signs
People have been interested in astrology since as far back as 3000 BCE. In those (relatively) early days of humanity, scholars turned to the night skies to understand what was happening here on Earth. To them, the stars and planets had all the answers, and even politicians and medical professionals accepted astrological findings as truths that directly impacted human life, per UNESCO. For some of us, not much has changed.
According to a 2022 YouGov poll, 27% of U.S. adults believe in astrology with the bulk of those people being ages 18 to 44. While astrology isn't steeped in science, it can still be fascinating and, in some cases, the traits of our signs really line up with who we are, how we behave, and even what we think. "All the signs have unique parts to their personalities that make us special," astrologer Hillary Coke told Glamour UK. "It is important to feel empowered as we embrace our energy and take on new and exciting adventures in love and life."
No matter how you slice it, astrology has become a large part of our culture. Each zodiac sign has its good and bad traits, and some signs, for example, are known to be incredibly stubborn — even too stubborn to realize it.
Taurus (April 20 to May 20)
The award for the most stubborn of the whole zodiac? To no one's surprise, that honor goes to Taurus. As the bull of the zodiac, Taurus is so stubborn that once they set their mind on something, they're not budging even a millionth of an inch. But as much as they can be a total nightmare to deal with, their stubbornness is a superpower for them because it means they don't give up very easily, via Astrotalk.
"Taurus is persistent and determined," professional astrologer Rachel Lang told Bustle. "They often need to come to decisions on their own; not be pushed by others. They proceed with decisions cautiously, often making sure everything is going to be stable/secure before they make a commitment." While being friends or partners with a Taurus can be challenging, at least you know you can always count on them to never waver in their stance on anything. Too many people tend to be wishy-washy on their opinions and beliefs, but Taurus is going to stick to their guns forever. If you don't like it, that's on you.
Capricorn (December 21 to January 20)
Capricorns are the most successful of all the zodiac signs because they're hardworking, pragmatic, determined, and structure-seeking perfectionists. Of course, one can't be all these things without being stubborn too. But unlike Taurus, Capricorns are willing to hear others out and be proven wrong as long as they are given tangible proof that they are mistaken in what they said or did, per Refinery 29.
"Ruled by the planet Saturn, which represents the limits of space and time, Capricorns are born with a keen awareness of this Earthly limitation and are thus determined to make things happen during their lifetime," astrologer Elisabeth Grace told Well + Good. "They're known for their serious focus, especially in youth... [and are] intuitively aligned with ideals of authority and hierarchy, and the security it brings to society's big structures when a person of integrity is in charge."
Although Capricorns aren't able to tap into their emotions very easily — they leave all that to their astrological sister sign Cancer — if you need them, they can dispense practical advice. Granted, this advice will be blunt, to the point, and maybe even a bit painful, but we all need that stubborn person in our life who's going to offer up some harsh truths.
Aries (March 21 to April 19)
As the sister sign of the peacekeeping, people-pleasing Libra, Aries is the take-charge and leave-no-prisoners opposite. If you're looking for someone to agree with you, you're barking up the wrong tree with Aries — they have no interest in placating others. Fiercely competitive and never wrong (according to them), Aries are a whole boatload of stubborn (they are the ram of the zodiac after all).
"The core identity or character [of an Aries] would be expressed in a headstrong, bold manner," professional astrologer Angel Dawn told Women's Health. "These attributes would color all areas of life including choice of career, partner, interests and more."
But just like their fellow stubborn signs, Aries is a good person to have in your life. For example, if you need someone on your team, Aries should be your top choice. With their competitive nature, they never lose. In fact, even if they do lose, they actually don't. Surprisingly, a certain former president isn't an Aries.
Scorpio (Ocotober 23 to November 21)
When we're talking about less-than-stellar zodiac traits, unfortunately, Scorpio is always on the list. Sure, they're vengeful, obsessive, controlling, twisted, into the occult, and of course stubborn (just to name a few things), but at least they're confident when being all these other things, per Cosmopolitan. Confidence is not something that a lot of people have, so yeah Scorpio!
"[Scorpios] can feel very dedicated to their thoughts, opinions, and ideas," professional astrologer Rachel Lang told Bustle. "This is great when Scorpio is committed to achieving a goal. They are determined. However, when Scorpio is in an unhealthy situation, like a dysfunctional relationship or an unsatisfying job, their stubbornness might keep them stuck in a compromised situation." Although it's admirable to stick things out, when it becomes detrimental to one's mental and emotional health, it's time to swallow your pride and run. But, of course, that's simply not Scorpio's style. Because of this, if you're the other part of an unhealthy situation with a Scorpio, it's up to you to put an end to things because Scorpio isn't moving a muscle.
If you happen to be one of these stubborn signs, there's a very good chance that you stubbornly disagree with this (accurate) assessment. While there's a lot to be said for those who stand by their convictions, there's even more to be said for those who are able to adjust themselves and their thoughts when necessary. Being perpetually difficult can wear thin on those around you — unless they're just as stubborn as you.
