Taylor Swift isn't only making waves in music, as she's also been nailing it with her fashion looks. Swift certainly stunned in a 2026 shoe trend in satin jewelry-strap heels for the Nashville Songwriting Hall of Fame, but she didn't stop there. While attending a Q&A for "Toy Story 5" on November 1, 2026, the "Blank Space" singer stepped out in another head-turning ensemble. However, eyes were specifically drawn to the minimalist leather pencil skirt she wore to the event, which paired well with the long-sleeved black top and pointed-toe slingback pumps.

Swift's choice of skirt marks the return of a '90s trend in fashion, which also made a stir in 2025 as evidenced by our guide on the ways to style a classic pencil skirt. And the "Love Story" hitmaker isn't the only celeb taking on this look, as "Today" co-host Jenna Bush Hager shot an Instagram Reel rocking a stylish outfit consisting of a crisp black leather pencil skirt and a bright red top.

But it's not just leather versions that are all the rage, as the pencil skirts dominating the runways of Chanel and Miu Miu saw lace trimmings, denim, tweed, and a variety of other fabrics and patterns. Overall, pencil skirts are being ushered out of their usual place as part of a woman's workwear uniform. As such, there are many different ways to style it, as Taylor Swift aptly demonstrates. 

It comes as no surprise that the fashion-forward songwriter knows how to style pencil skirts for the red carpet. The "Shake It Off" singer wore a silver sequined pencil/column skirt to the 2021 BRIT Awards. Designed by Miu Miu, Swift completed the look with a crop top and a pastel blue manicure. The 14-time Grammy winner kept her accessories minimal with some rings and a pair of silver earrings. This co-ord outfit was a hit, and there are comparable alternatives on the market you can look into.
