Julianne Moore is a recognizable name in the hallowed, glittering halls of Hollywood. But aside from winning acclaim in films like "Still Alice" and "Boogie Nights," she's also nailing her mother-of-the-groom style with ease. And it all boils down to a simple line she said when speaking about how she dresses herself. "I don't wear a lot of color because, having red hair, I carry a lot of color with me," she once said in a now-deleted exclusive with The Edit (per E! News). So, it comes as no surprise that the Oscar winner opted for a classic strappy black dress to wear to her son Caleb Freundlich's wedding to Kibriyaá Morgan in October 2026.

Moore looked absolutely stunning in the dress, which is noted for its simplicity and comfort. The silver screen veteran jazzed things up with a pair of long tassel diamond earrings, and had her straight hair styled in one of the most youthful haircuts for older women. She is certainly one of the celeb moms that proved frumpy mother of the bride or groom looks are a thing of the past as she posed next to her equally gorgeous daughter, Liv Freundlich. In another now-deleted snap of Moore during the wedding celebrations, the star was pictured wearing a matching black blazer that added to the classy vibes of her entire outfit. It seemed that her mother-of-the-groom look was no accident, as for Moore, she's always had a preference for practicality, understated elegance, and effortlessness both on and off the red carpet.

Julianne Moore prioritizes how she feels when it comes to dressing herself

When she's on her off days, practicality and comfort still come first for Julianne Moore. And if she feels comfortable in her outfit, then all the better. In fact, Moore revealed that her go-to fashion items and things she wears day-to-day are things that you can easily recreate with your own wardrobe at home. "I like to have a really great pair of jeans, a Saint Laurent army jacket, and then a really good pair of Birkenstocks. Right now they're my favorite," Moore exclusively shared with British Vogue, adding, "This outfit makes me feel good, like myself." So it comes as no surprise that the latter is something she applies to the red carpet as well.

Although Moore admitted that she does take it up a notch for glitzy events, being settled in her own skin remains forefront in the mind of the two-time Golden Globe winner. "The goal ... is to find something that aligns with who I am, especially with red-carpet dressing," Moore exclusively shared with Harper's Bazaar. "Though it might feel like an exaggerated version of my personality or interests." In fact, the black slip dress she wore to the Toronto International Film Festival in Canada back in September 2026 encapsulated her practical, yet fashionable, style philosophy and calm personality perfectly. Not only did it bear remarkable similarity to her classy mother-of-the-groom outfit, but it also screams functionality and ease of wear while exuding quiet luxury.
