Remember '90s Star Gabrielle Anwar? She's Such A Bombshell In Her 50s
It may have been some time since Gabrielle Anwar graced our screens, but she's still undeniably a stunner. Most would remember her as the gorgeous Sam Black from the hit '90s show "Press Gang", charming audiences with her sweet smile and bewitching blue-gray eyes. She then followed it up with smashing performances in Showtime's "The Tudors" and "Burn Notice". Her most recent credited film appearance was in 2019's "The Last Summer," and years later, Anwar continues to turn heads with her timeless beauty.
In an Instagram post she uploaded in early October 2026, the actor is seen posing beside her horse. In contrast to these '90s stars who are totally unrecognizable now, Anwar still had the same bright smile and dark brown hair. Moreover, it's clear she could count as one of the celebs confronting aging with confidence, as she looks beyond amazing at 56. But there may be a reason the actress has remained such a bombshell in her 50s, especially given how much she's focused on her health.
In an exclusive 2010 interview with Self, Anwar revealed just how she's stayed so fit and healthy. "I love yoga because every muscle is being toned from the moment one spreads their toes on that mat," she detailed to the outlet. And it appears to be a workout that she has continued to do to this day, as seen in this May 2026 reel of the star as she lies on her yoga mat. But aside from physical health, it's also wonderful to know that Anwar has taken steps to care for her mental health as well.
Gabrielle Anwar had a long and challenging mental health journey
Despite starring in some of the most successful TV shows in Hollywood, Gabrielle Anwar was battling with her mental health behind the scenes. In truth, Anwar had been having mental health struggles since childhood and revealed in an essay for Business Insider that acting provided a way for her to channel and manage her intense emotions. "Acting made me feel alive, even as I battled depression privately," she candidly wrote. And although she received an official diagnosis of bipolar disorder, she continued to privately struggle with it throughout her career.
Anwar further admitted that tackling bipolar disorder without medication had made her a less-than-ideal partner to her husband, Shareef Malnik. It also strained her relationship with her eldest daughter, Willow. "I was too consumed with survival. I wasn't emotionally available for my oldest child in the ways she needed," she continued in the essay. But when she entered her 40s, Anwar finally discovered the medication that suited her perfectly, setting her down the path of recovery.
With the added blessing of becoming a grandmother, the star found a new lease on life. In her mind, it was a chance to turn over a new leaf with both Willow and her other family members. Her story offers a reminder that feeling confident and fulfilled in your 50s can involve much more than appearance: emotional well-being, supportive relationships, and finding the right treatment can all play a role.
