Ella Bleu Travolta's Piecey Updos Are The Perfect Low-Effort Hairstyles For Busy Days

Ella Bleu Travolta is a fan of the piecey updo. When her hair isn't in a bun or left loose, she often opts for a piecey updo with wispy strands framing her face. We can't blame her; it's such a flattering look and the perfect low-effort hairstyle for busy days.

For Travolta — yes, she's John Travolta and Kelly Preston's daughter — who has mid-length hair, she mostly leans into the textured high updo with a multi-dimensional silhouette. Not only does this hairstyle offer an elevated look, but it's also easy to style and versatile enough for any occasion. Typically, the hair is pinned back and deliberately separated into distinct sections, and the strands styled into defined loops. For a tousled look, the sections are left looser to create a soft, slightly undone appearance.

Now that she has reignited her acting career and ventured into modeling, Travolta has been making more public appearances lately, putting her signature piecey updo on display. At the New York film premiere of "Propeller One-Way Night Coach," in which she plays a flight attendant named Doris, Travolta stepped onto the red carpet in a custom Miu Miu white floral-print cloqué gown adorned with a bright blue duchesse satin bow and crystal-embroidered halter straps. That look alone has certainly landed her among the best-dressed nepo babies in Hollywood. Adding a subtle touch of glam with peachy-pink blush, rosy-hued lips, and mascara-swept lashes, the actor styled her brunette hair in an elegantly coiffed piecey updo, complete with face-framing tendrils hanging on each side.

Ella's piecey, messy updos are a masterclass in effortless chic

Ella Bleu Travolta, who has totally transformed over the years, seems to favor tousled looks. In fact, her piecey updos with a messy finish are a masterclass in effortless chic. Whether it's just her great hair or she simply mastered the artistry behind creating these looks (or both), the up-and-comer  pulls off these hairstyles very well.

While attending Paris Fashion Week in 2025, Travolta shared photos from the experience, captioning her Instagram post, "First PFW." Dressed in an all-black ensemble comprising a slouchy off-the-shoulder sweater and flared pants, she complemented her look with her usual piecey updo. From the back, her hairstyle appeared to be a three-tier updo, making it particularly ideal for mid-length hair, which is best to highlight the sections and dimensions of the style — rather than longer hair that would otherwise obscure such details. This is done by dividing the hair into three ponytails at the back, then folding and overlapping the strands from each together to create a voluminous, multi-dimensional effect. Travolta gave hers a messy finish, with spiky strands sticking out from each section and added tendrils in the front to frame her face.

The look certainly scored points with her fans. "Gorgeous! Love your hair," one person commented on the post. Another wrote, "Exquisite Ella! Love this look!" while a third complimented the style: "Cool look. You should do two hair buns. Would love to see that."
