'70s Icon Jaclyn Smith Takes Her Mother-Of-The-Groom Style To 2026 Emmys With Stunning Re-Wear

'70s icon Jaclyn Smith is an outfit repeater — and proud of it. So she should be too, because the 2026 Emmys re-wear of the stunning mother-of-the-groom dress Smith wore to her son Gaston's wedding in 2023 was a masterclass in wardrobe recycling. The "Charlie's Angels" star hit the red carpet in the same pastel green sequin gown with feather detailing and a very similar bouncy 'do (complete with one of 2026's hottest hair trends; curtain bangs!), but added bangles to her right wrist. The actor giving the elegant gown another outing put this icon firmly on trend too. Though re-wearing outfits was once considered a no-no, particularly in the celebrity world, that's no longer the case.

Many famous faces are choosing to re-wear past looks as a nod to sustainability and in defiance of overconsumption and fast fashion, including Smith's regal inspiration for her Emmys style. "This feels like I'm in my nightgown. I love the color," she told CNN on the red carpet (via People). "And everybody said, 'How can you do that?' And I said, 'Well, if Princess Kate can re-wear something, I can re-wear something.'" It's a totally false royal fashion rumor that royalty can't wear an outfit more than once, and Kate Middleton has become notorious for wearing 'fits multiple times. And frankly, when someone looks as good as Smith did in this number, who can blame her for wanting to slip back into it?

Just like us, fans noticed the glam re-wear on social media and were fully in support of her sustainable choice. "Who cares if she [re-wore it?] she liked it and makes her feel beautiful then it's the right dress," wrote one Instagram user. "Absolutely stunning," wrote another.

Jaclyn Smith is a firm believer in wearing clothes more than once

Jaclyn Smith has made no secret of her belief that clothes should be worn more than once, even if that means wearing them again decades later. "I have things that might have to be let out a little that I wore 20 years ago. But they still work because they're classic," she told People in 2023. Smith also got more specific about the pieces she held on to from her "Charlie's Angels" days (when '70s fashion trends reigned supreme) with New Beauty, revealing some are still part of her wardrobe today. "I have several silk blouses with ties, and two blazers I kept because they were so well tailored. Tailoring is key to any good fit," she said.

Smith's Emmy dress is far from the only time we've seen her put her money where her mouth is when it comes to re-wearing her favorite fashion items. In a March 2023 Instagram video, she sported a blue floral sweater from her eponymous HSN collection with white pants and her signature voluminous blowout. Almost a year and a half later, she wore the same top with navy pants and a more tousled, textured 'do in another video posted to Instagram. Jaclyn Smith? Yeah, she's a sustainable fashion icon all fashionistas should be more like.
