Grandparents are incredibly special. We may not all be blessed with the presence of our parents' parents in our lives for long, but those of us lucky enough to experience their wisdom (even if just for a little while) will be well aware of the one-of-a-kind love only a grandparent can provide. Former president Jimmy Carter even cemented the importance of grandparents nationally in 1979 when he honored them by making September 9 National Grandparents Day.
