Carole Middleton Showed Why Slingback Flats Should Be In Your Wardrobe At Wimbledon 2026

Kate Middleton has become the embodiment of sophistication and royal elegance. The Princess of Wales has dazzled the world with her wardrobe choices, as seen with Kate Middleton's most sophisticated monochrome outfits. But she's surely gotten this keen fashion sense from someone, and perhaps that person is her mother, Carole Middleton. And while Mrs. Middleton has turned heads with her style picks as well, this time it's her shoe of choice that's proven to be a wardrobe essential after she wore them at Wimbledon in 2026.

As seen in the image above, Carole Middleton, who was walking alongside her daughter, Pippa Middleton, donned a pair of white slingback flats, teaming them with a tailored soft blue blazer over a white dress. The outfit as a whole serves as the perfect style inspo, but it's her shoes in particular that stand out the most, and they are proving a sensible and stylish choice for older women. While heels aren't truly out of the question when you get older, as these best heel choices for older women show, sometimes comfort is the priority, especially when you'll be walking around or standing up for long periods of time. Plus, despite the lack of a heel, Carole Middleton's footwear choice still felt elevated and sophisticated.

Carole Middleton is also setting the style for comfort

While flats are certainly comfy, Carole Middleton isn't afraid to add a bit more pizzazz to her wardrobe that could inspire older women. And this is exactly what she did when she attended the 2026 Cheltenham Festival. Not only did she wear Kate Middleton's hat,  but she wore a button-up checkered gray coat with a fur muff around her neck. Aside from that and the $65,000 Hermès Birkin bag she was toting around, her dark brown suede boots were the star of the show. The boots were knee-high and featured block heels, which are also much more comfortable to wear than stiletto heels.

However, Carole Middleton has also worn shoes that offer both height and ease, as seen in the above photo when she wore wedges with a classy white dress while attending Wimbledon in 2018. Carole Middleton has proven that, for older women, there's no need to sacrifice style.
