Country Star Martina McBride Credits This Very Simple Advice For Her Successful Marriage
Hollywood has its share of successful marriages, and country singer Martina McBride's is one of them. She has been married to John McBride since 1988 and they still seem as in love as ever. And with more than 35 years of marriage under their belt, the vocal powerhouse has learned a crucial lesson on what keeps any marriage going. In an exclusive interview with People, the "My Baby Loves Me" singer held nothing back.
"It really helps if you find someone you like, not just love," the country icon shared with the publication. "I'm glad we like each other, because when you're at your empty nest at the end of the day, it's important to have somebody who you can just be silent with." The legendary singer went further into detail about her marriage, revealing that the couple genuinely enjoy spending time with one another. Since they "really like hanging out and experiencing new things together," it stands to reason that the McBrides will be one of the celeb marriages we think will stand the test of time.
John and Martina McBride are a match made in heaven
Martina McBride has a lot of appreciation for her husband John, and it seems that the feeling is mutual. In fact, John has publicly claimed in the past that they were meant to be, showing the sheer depth of their affection for one another. "I'm not a religious guy, but I always felt God put us together," John shared in an exclusive 2010 interview with The Boot, "It's crazy ... This girl, she's incredible, and I love her more [now] than I ever have." And Martina herself only has positive things to say about her husband.
The "Independence Day" vocalist wrote an op-ed for MSNBC back in 2009, as fans were wondering even then how the McBrides managed to stick together for so long. In a world that dissects the biggest red flags in Hollywood relationships (and what we can learn from them), it's understandable how Martina's marriage is so different. But the 14-time Grammy nominee says that it's all quite simple. "I married a man who is a great partner. He is thoughtful, kind, considerate, romantic, handsome and really funny," Martina wrote (per Country Standard Time), before concluding that the pair made "a great team." And we couldn't agree more.
