Old Hollywood's Faye Dunaway Has Had A Gorgeous Gray Hair Transformation

For decades, Faye Dunaway was known for her glamorous blond hair, with her golden locks being one of the defining features of her image. In "Bonnie and Clyde," the Academy Award-winning actor was recognized for her voluminous hairstyle, which perfectly complemented her sophisticated on-screen presence. However, in the years that followed, both her career and hair have undergone a transformation. As she shifted away from being a young starlet, she took roles on both the small screen and the stage, in turn adopting looks that matched her characters' ages. At one point, she even went brunette! But now, years later, the star has seemed to finally be entering an era where she's ready to fully embrace the gray.

Although the actor has never publicly spoken about her decision to eschew any dye jobs, eagle-eyed fans may have noticed that she debuted her fully silver look in May 2026. The 85-year-old star made a rare public appearance on the red carpet at the TCM Classic Film Festival, wearing a black suit, a crisp white button-up shirt, and three oversized red floral appliqués. In place of her legendary blond locks, Dunaway's hair appeared to have naturally faded to a sophisticated silver.  Her decision to quietly embrace gray hair has added her to the growing list of celebrities who have proudly embraced their natural color.

Rather than shying away from going gray, Faye Dunaway embraced her changing hair color years before it became a growing Hollywood trend. While many fans noticed her fully silver look at the 2026 TCM Classic Film Festival, the actor had already shown signs of graying a decade earlier. During the April 2016 after-party for the premiere of HBO's "Game of Thrones" Season 6, Dunaway posed alongside Jaime Lannister actor Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, offering a glimpse of her evolving hairstyle.

The star still retained some of her signature blond color at the time, but much of it had naturally transitioned to the sophisticated silver shade she wears today. Looking back at the photo now, it's clear Dunaway was embracing the aging process long before silver hair became a celebrated beauty statement on the red carpet. This shouldn't be so surprising, as the star herself has long adopted a neutral attitude about getting older. Back in 2016, she told People, "It is what it is. It's not something to moan or complain about" (via Huffpost).

Thankfully, Dunaway is far from the only older celeb to adopt this stance. Across the board, there appears to be a growing acceptance of natural gray hair in both Hollywood and the fashion industry, where silver is increasingly viewed as sophisticated, empowering, and stylish rather than something that needs to be concealed with dye.
