Consider yourself blessed if an author you love has shared their favorite books — it's so special to know which books have inspired your favorites. Like how one of Emily Henry's favorite books is perfect for when you're craving witty banter, or how Lena Dunham has a list full of books that make for the ultimate cool-girl reading list. Well, another bestselling author has shared some of her favorite books, and they're the perfect reads for older women to add to their TBR.
Emma Grey, author of "The Last Love Note" and "Pictures of You," shared in an exclusive interview with Page Six that she's been scoping out everything, from romantic comedies to contemporary fiction and every genre in between. Of the many books she's read, she picked her top six recommendations that every woman searching for heart, humor, and grit should immediately add to their reading list.
The first on her list was Rachel Fox McLeod's "Disgraceful," which she described as being 'incredibly satisfying,' as readers will get to witness a woman reclaiming her identity after a lifetime of putting others first. Another book on her list is the autobiography "Imogen in Waiting" by Lindsay Bartels, which stuck with Grey long after she'd finished it. She said that the book is simply 'a reminder that we can find our way through difficult things.'
Emma Grey thanks her mother for her love of fiction
There's always that one person who's helped inspire another's love of reading. For Emma Grey, that person was none other than her mother. In the Page Six interview, the author shared, "I've loved reading fiction ever since my mom introduced me to the power of imaginary worlds in Beatrix Potter and Enid Blyton." Since then, Grey has never been without a book, and she's made a career out of storytelling. Her book journey is what makes her reading list feel like a recommendation from a trusted friend.
For instance, she suggested people read "When Lemons Give You Life" by Anna Johnston if you're looking for an uplifting story about finding joy later in life. Grey added, "I adore a redemption story and Anna has such a beautiful way with words." For those seeking a lighter rom-com centered around a middle-aged woman, go ahead and add "Forty Love" by Jane Costello to your TBR. The "Start at the End" author absolutely adored the story and called it a 'sports romance meets empty nesting and perimenopause' kind of story. "Mad Mabel," which is a thriller that made it on our list of April 2026 new releases you'll want to pick up for your book club, was also on the bestselling author's favorites list. It's a psychological thriller, but has lots of dark humor interwoven with the suspense.
