Pat Benatar is an instantly recognizable name in the rock n' roll scene, winning hearts with popular hits such as "Hit Me with Your Best Shot" and "Heartbreaker." With a career spanning more than 50 years, there can be no doubt that Benatar has made her mark in music history. But with such an extensive experience being in the public eye, the certified hitmaker has still not let Hollywood's beauty pressures affect her. One clear sign of that is her decision to rock her gray hair rather than dye it.
Similar to how Amber Tamblyn is effortlessly embracing her gray hair, Benatar isn't afraid to let her silver locks show. As seen in the image above, Benatar's formerly dark brown hair (left) has lightened to an ashy tone (right); which she appears to be totally comfortable with given her toothy smile. Based on this Instagram post made by professional hairstylist Jayne Matthews, Benatar does not seem to have regretted her decision to keep things natural, as the rock star is all smiles while posing with a shaggy cut. Fans were all behind the vocalist's look, posting positive comments in support. "Love the gray and shag haircut," wrote one user. "Pat has always had Striking beauty...now is no different," added another.
Pat Benatar is not afraid of aging
Aging appears not to be a concern for Pat Benatar, as she has never spoken to the press about going under the knife or any beauty treatments. But in her autobiography, "Pat Benatar, Between a Heart and a Rock Place: A Memoir", she made her views on aging more than clear. "I've enjoyed every age I've been and each has had its own individual merit. ... Nowadays, I don't want a "perfect" face and body; I want to wear the life I've lived," the "We Belong" singer candidly wrote, per The Huffington Post. It's evident that Benatar could be considered one of the many celebs that are confronting aging with confidence.
Instead, Benatar has chosen to focus on what really matters in her life, namely her family. She, along with her musician husband Neil Giraldo published the children's book "My Grandma and Grandpa Rock!", dedicating it to their grandchildren. In fact, the couple asked for their grandkids' input before writing it. "[Our oldest granddaughter] was the catalyst for [the book] because she started reading in preschool," Benatar told Reader's Digest. "We were telling her the stories about what kinds of jobs grandparents could have ... That really just started the whole process. It was really a pure moment and just joyful."
