Marie Osmond And Husband Steve Craig Are Proof Second Chances Can Be Beautiful
We're all well aware of the history and red flags in Hollywood relationships. But Marie Osmond and Steve Craig are proof that second chances can be beautiful, meaning you too have permission to get back with your ex in certain situations. Osmond and Craig remarried in 2011, after being divorced for 26 years, and have since led a happy life together. It is quite a rare occurrence, as only 6% of divorced couples remarry each other. Osmond told People, "Nothing is an accident. I am a spiritual person. God has his timing." The couple share a son, Stephen, who was apprehensive at first to hear that his parents were getting back together after such a long time, but he was soon on board.
Osmond originally married Craig when she was 22 years old in 1982. They divorced in 1985 because they couldn't find a balance between their personal and professional lives. Osmond revealed that she then rushed into her second marriage – to Brian Blosil — and provided some advice to others going through the same thing. She said, "You really need time on your own. And you need to know that you're a good person in order to find a good person." Perhaps Osmond, like others who remarry their ex, realized she was still in love or experienced growth that allowed her to try again with Craig.
Marie Osmond explained why she chose the date of her marriage
On May 4, 2023, Marie Osmond shared a sweet post of her and her husband, Steve Craig. To celebrate their 12th anniversary, Osmond posted a photo of the two on a boat in the water. She explained in her caption why they chose that particular date to get remarried — it is not only her mom's birthday, but her son Michael's, too. Both had passed away by then and it was her and Craig's way "to symbolically have them with us in spirit when we remarried."
Osmond adopted Michael with Blosil, but Michael tragically died by suicide in 2010 at the age of 18. Osmond spoke about her loss on CBS Sunday Morning in 2019, saying, "You know, I don't think you're ever through it. I think God gives you respites, and then all of a sudden it'll hit you like the day it did." She also told Oprah Winfrey (via CBS News) that her son had depression. According to the National Institute of Mental Health, the mental illness impacts quite a high percentage of teens in the USA, about 15% in 2021. Michael had previously been to rehabilitation for undisclosed reasons.
