Julia Roberts' Best Marriage Advice Comes Down To Two Important Things

We all know that marriage can be tough, and there are so many red flags in Hollywood relationships. But, actor Julia Roberts — whose stunning hair looks prove she can pull anything off – has some great marriage advice. Roberts celebrated her 23rd wedding anniversary in 2025, so we're sure that her words are worth listening to. The "Eat Pray Love" star revealed in an interview on Sirius XM's "The Jess Cagle Show" in 2022 that her marriage to cinematographer Danny Moder has lasted so long thanks to "two bathroom sinks and lots of kissing."

Although Roberts seems to have been joking when she offered the marriage advice, she may be onto something. Having two bathroom sinks can lead to less arguments over getting ready for the day or for bed. It provides each member of the relationship with personal space and you won't have to deal with the other's messy sink. Kissing, on the other hand, may lead to a stronger bond as it releases oxytocin and dopamine (our "feel good" hormones), which help us to feel a sense of togetherness.

Julia Roberts has praised her husband

Julia Roberts has praised her husband publicly many times. In a 2023 interview on the "Today" show, Roberts spoke about parenting and described Moder as the family's "anchor." She told Hoda Kotb, "It all starts with Danny Moder." The "Erin Brockovich" star added that Moder is "our person and in the most beautiful way, the captain of our ship." She went on to praise Moder more intensely, saying, "For me, understanding how deeply felt life could be, really started with him." She and Moder share three children — twins Hazel and Phinnaeus, and younger son Henry.

In an interview with Vanity Fair, Roberts explained yet another reason her marriage has worked for so long — she and Moder commit to communication with each other, no matter where they are in the world. With a job like hers, she must spend a lot of time away from her husband. But, they do something that's rare these days, they write handwritten letters to one another. In fact, Roberts gushed that Moder's first letter to her was seven pages long! Now, that's a sweet way to demonstrate your love.
