Bethenny Frankel's Two-Word Marriage Advice Is Worth Listening To Even If You're Single
Former reality TV star Bethenny Frankel has been married and divorced twice, and while she hasn't quite figured out the secret code for a happy and long-lasting relationship, she has picked up a few nuggets of wisdom along the way.
The Skinnygirl founder, who has appeared on Shark Tank as a Guest Shark, is known for offering advice on business and entrepreneurship, but she admits that she may not be the best person to consult when it comes to matters of the heart or romance. However, Frankel, who is currently dating investment banker Shane L. Campbell, has gained enough experience from both her failed marriages and past relationships to know what not to do and what may oftentimes get overlooked.
In June 2026, "The Real Housewives of New York City" alum found herself dishing out marriage advice to longtime fan and bride-to-be Abbie DeLozier just before she walked down the aisle. "Nobody needs to be taking advice from me on relationships," Frankel said in a custom-made Cameo video, gifted by DeLozier's husband-to-be, and shared on Instagram. "But here it goes: If it's important to him, it's important to you. Love yourself, treat yourself, have fun, and don't take it all too seriously. Don't be bridezilla, it's not that deep." Frankel, however, reiterated what may have been the key two-word piece of marriage advice worth noting even if you're single, adding, "But most importantly, love yourself." It's a simple yet powerful reminder that tends to get lost among wives and mothers after they tie the knot.
But will Bethenny ever marry again?
Understandably, Frankel may not have wanted to delve into the not-so-happy side of married life with DeLozier on her wedding day, but in the past has shared a plethora of advice to safeguard women before they take the plunge. Frankel, who has said she experienced the post-divorce effects of mental and emotional torture, resulting in trust issues and PTSD, has long advocated for women to maintain their independence and secure strong prenuptial agreements in a marriage. She has often emphasized that marriage is a contract and nothing more. "[Marriage] is not a romantic act — being in a relationship and being in a commitment is a romantic act," Frankel said on an April 2024 episode of her "Just B Divorced with Bethenny Frankel" podcast. "Signing a contract and being in a contract with another human being? That is a business deal ... I went through torture to tell you this," she continued, referring to her marriage to ex-husband Jason Hoppy.
The reality star's 10-year-long divorce nightmare from Hoppy was finalized in January 2021, and though she's a celeb who has had an epic post-divorce glow-up, the experience has left her pretty adamant about never remarrying. "I'm not sure if I would ever get married again or ever be legally bound to someone for anything other than a business contract," she said in her podcast. "I've been burned ... I have been through a f***ing war ... This was mental and emotional torture, what I went through. It was literally the most traumatizing thing that I will hopefully ever go through in my life."
