Anna Faris' Look Totally Changes When She Ditches Her Signature Blond Hair

Anna Faris is known for her blond hair. In fact, she exemplifies the notion that the hair color we're born with is often the most flattering for our features, making it difficult to imagine the actor without her flaxen-toned mane. There have been occasions, however, when Faris has ditched her signature blond hair and completely transformed for a movie role, notably in "May," when she sported sleek black tresses, "Take Me Home Tonight," rocking hazelnut brown hair, and the first two "Scary Movie" films, where she traded her natural blond hair for a dark brown look. While she made a lasting impression on fans in these memorable performances, the extent of her transformation isn't fully evident until her blond- and black-haired looks are compared in side-by-side photos.

While Faris looks strikingly different in a darker hair color, there's a reason she can pull off dark and light hair colors flawlessly. She has naturally darker-toned brows and lashes, which provide the contrast needed to perfectly complement dark hair. According to brow brand Relume, "Those with medium to dark brown hair should aim for brows that are either a perfect match or a shade darker." The beauty brand noted that lighter brows paired with dark hair can make the face and skin tone appear 'washed out,' while the right eyebrow shade creates balance and contrast. In Faris' case, her naturally dark brows and lashes help create that harmony, making her dark hair look surprisingly flattering.

When asked by Allure which hair color has been her favorite, Anna Faris revealed, "I did love wearing a brown wig in The Dictator — it was really liberating and edgy." However, she did admit that her natural hair color is a big part of who she truly is, saying, "I couldn't be any blonder right now and I think that reflects my personality."

Ironically, Faris is much more blond today than she was growing up. In 2014, the actor shared a throwback photo, revealing she wasn't always a platinum blond. In fact, Faris happens to fall among celebs who are nearly unrecognizable with their natural hair color. In the snap below, she has a butterscotch hue accented by a few blond highlights. "Here's my high school pic (I'm in red) 1994," she wrote on X, adding, "So weird how my hair just becomes more blonde."

Over the years, the movie star has transitioned her hair through various shades of golden, platinum, and flaxen blond. For red carpets, her color is often dialed up for maximum impact, and celebrity colorist Kari Hill told The Hollywood Reporter that when prepping "The House Bunny" actor for awards season, she tries to make her hair look even more platinum. "With Anna we made sure her color was really, really bright," Hill said, noting she used purple shampoo and conditioner to help Faris achieve her platinum blond-bombshell look.
