Susan Sarandon's Secret To Aging Gracefully Is All About 'Staying Curious'

We all know and love movies such as "Little Women" and "Thelma & Louise," starring Susan Sarandon. The actor has been in at least 100 projects since 1970. It may be hard to believe that Sarandon is 79 years old (at the time of this report), as she is stunning as ever in her 70s. You may be wondering how she does it. Well, she spoke to British Vogue in 2017, revealing that part of her secret is "staying engaged and staying curious and having a good time." That makes sense because stress ages the skin, so enjoying life may very well be the secret to youthful looks.

Sarandon also went on to say that, to maintain her looks, she limits drinking alcohol and doesn't smoke. This echoes what other celebrities have said. For example, Gwyneth Paltrow and some other ladies in Hollywood managed to quit smoking and reaped the health benefits. Sarandon mentioned that staying hydrated is also important, and experts agree. In fact, Harvard Health Publishing recommends drinking four to six glasses of plain water per day.

Susan Sarandon has quite the fitness routine

Not only does Susan Sarandon have good habits to take care of her skin, but she also takes good care of her whole body in general. Having a self-care routine for both your face and body seems to be the key to confronting aging with confidence. Sarandon gets a lot of cardio in, as she told People. "It helps to live in New York because I walk everywhere. I ride my bike down the West Side Highway, and I get 30 minutes on the treadmill," she shared.

Sarandon's routine isn't completely typical, though. The actor also does boxing! She told People, "Someone gave me lessons as a gift, then I continued, and I like it. I like the gym. It's really fun with all the boxers, and it's fun to hit — it's a workout!" We can only imagine how much fun that is for her and applaud her for staying so active at her age.
