Alexis Bledel Made A Rare Appearance At The 2026 Tribeca Festival & Her Look Was Pure Rory Gilmore

Actor Alexis Bledel stepped out at the 2026 Tribeca Film Festival in a chic black-and-white look that could have credibly belonged to her famous "Gilmore Girls" character. From the creamy silk top to the subtle minaudière, everything about this red carpet look felt feminine and classic, and the contrasting Peter Pan collar gave the look a preppy edge. These, of course, are the guiding stars of Rory Gilmore's style, particularly in the later seasons of the iconic, 2000s-era CW show.

Over the course of seven seasons, the fictional bookworm evolved from wearing slouchy, oversized knits and a prep school uniform to sleeker, more sophisticated styles, including Anthropologie dresses, ladylike coats, and miniskirts paired with tall boots. In fact, there's only one aspect of this red carpet look that doesn't feel tailor-made for Stars Hollow: its neutral color palette. The "Gilmore Girls" cast usually wore bright colors that would translate well on a small television screen.

This isn't the first time that Bledel has donned an outfit that screams Rory Gilmore. In fact, the similarities between their style suggest that Bledel has some overlapping taste with her onscreen counterpart, or that Bledel, like so many of us, has been influenced by her fictional alter ego. In fact, Bledel revealed that many pieces from the "Gilmore Girls" costume department ended up going home with her. "After the show wrapped, I was given a lot of the clothes," she told Broadway.com in 2011.

Alexis Bledel's personal style has evolved beyond Rory Gilmore's

But while there might be a lot of overlap between Alexis Bledel and Rory Gilmore's fashion sensibilities, the actor has also made a conscious effort to differentiate herself from her well-known television counterpart. Pictures of the "Gilmore Girls" leading ladies then and now reveal just how dramatically Bledel has changed since the show aired. In the series finale, Rory Gilmore was just 22 years old. But as Bledel has matured, she's evolved beyond the character's youthful, demure aesthetic. "I try to get away from the way people see me on the show in little ways, try to dress older or just differently," Bledel told WWD in 2009. "I try not to wear anything that makes me look too young because that only aggravates the idea that I'm young and sweet like my character."

As a result, Bledel has experimented with more sultry or adventurous styles over the years. For every Rory Gilmore-approved ensemble, Bledel has also worn plenty of spicy outfits that clash with her "Gilmore Girls" persona. But, given Bledel's similarities to the character she portrayed, perhaps Bledel's transformation hints at how her character's style would have continued to evolve if the show had continued. "It seems that the costume designer worked not only with colors, but with moods and stages of growing up," wrote one Reddit user.
