Dua Lipa Ditches Traditional Wedding Dress For Bridal Suit Inspired By This '70s Icon

Pop star Dua Lipa and actor Callum Turner officially tied the knot with a private courthouse ceremony in May 2026. The "Houdini" hitmaker looked stunning in a white wedding suit that was giving vintage chic. Though several celebrity brides have worn pants to their wedding (and looked good doing it), Lipa's suit featured a sweet, body-skimming skirt — and appeared to pay tribute to another British legend.

Altogether, the custom Schiaparelli look evoked the Yves Saint Laurent skirt suit that fashion icon Bianca Jagger wore when she got hitched to Rolling Stones frontman, Mick Jagger, in 1971. For Lipa, the classic style got a playful refresh, in the form of a high-low skirt, a sculptural blazer, and oversized gold buttons, including one shaped like an eye. Though the pair are also planning a lavish, three-day wedding ceremony in Sicily, Lipa opted for an unconventional look for this preliminary celebration. It's the perfect example of a stunning celebrity wedding dress that's outside box. The pop star clearly picked her influence well, since the understated look was an immediate hit with fans. "I absolutely love this," wrote one Reddit user. "I love the vintage feel and that it's not your typical wedding look." Perhaps the best part of Lipa's stunning ensemble was her enormous smile. "Other than her outfit being unbelievably gorgeous and classy, they also look so so happy together and it's really nice to see!" wrote a Reddit user.

It's easy to see why Bianca Jagger's dress still has an impact. She was a known free spirit when it came to her fashion sense, and was once quoted saying (via Sydney Morning Herald): "I don't want to wear what every other woman wears." Understandably, in 1971, when her wedding happened, it wasn't as common to see two-piece sets; more popular during the era were frilly, long frocks like the one Alana Hamilton wore when she married Rod Stewart.

Lipa is far from the only celebrity to pay tribute to Jagger's iconic wedding look. At the 2025 Met Gala, Zendaya famously wore an ivory pantsuit and large hat styled by Law Roach, that appeared to nod to the fashion icon. However, in Lipa's case, there seems to be more of a direct connection. Aside from the fact that Lipa is a Brit like Jagger, she seems to have a flair for simple, yet statement-making looks. Her wedding dress was far from he only retro influence she brought to her special day. Like the skirt suit, her large solitaire diamond set in a wide gold cigar band was undeniably classic, blending bridal tradition (the style is notably Victorian) with Lipa's own aesthetic sensibilities. 

The modern ring style is a refreshing change from standard celebrity bridal fare. "It's definitely a departure from the statement, fancy shaped solitaire diamonds on super delicate bands that we have been seeing on celebrities for the past five-plus years," jewelry designer Susie Saltzman told BRIDES in 2025. Walking the fine line between unique and timeless can be tricky, especially when it comes to weddings. But it's clear that Lipa is nailing it by leaning into her personal style, and delivering a masterclass in how to sidestep any outdated wedding trends.
