Ellen Burstyn Says This Wellness Habit Is The Reason She's 'Still Kicking' In Her 90s
In this day and age where we have a cultural obsession with how celebs look, it's hard to believe that aging is a privilege. But Ellen Burstyn proves otherwise, poised to turn 94 in 2026 without showing any signs of stopping. The two-time Emmy-award winner sat down in an interview on "Live With Kelly and Mark", revealing that she was still keeping active in her day-to-day life and has no plans to slow down. From leisurely strolls about Central Park to other exercises adjusted to her age bracket, "The Exorcist" actor is setting an example that the youth should follow.
So, it comes as no surprise that Burstyn is totally not on board with the ageism prevalent in Hollywood, nor is she a huge fan of the beauty standards pressuring women to look a certain way. Instead, the "Resurrection" star has adopted a different outlook on aging. "I try to have the first words out of my mouth be, 'Thank you," Burstyn exclusively told Interview back when she turned 90, "Thank you that I'm alive ... Thank you that I'm 90 and still going." There can be no doubt that Burstyn is one of the celebs that are confronting aging with confidence, and that her stance of viewing aging with gratitude is one we can get behind.
Ellen Burstyn says reaching 90 requires more than just exercising
Although Ellen Burstyn outlined the exercise routine that has kept her healthy, she has further unveiled the other things she's done to live past her 90s. After all, what you consume and put inside your body is just as important as going to the gym several times a week. And the "Requiem for a Dream" actor knows that better than anyone, sharing that she'd switched up on her eating habits and did away with her vices. "I don't drink alcohol. I don't smoke cigarettes anymore. I don't smoke marijuana anymore," Burstyn exclusively shared on a segment of the "Literally! With Rob Lowe" podcast, before adding, "I don't eat meat. I have a plant-based diet."
Burstyn also makes sure she keeps her bases covered by focusing on maintaining her mental faculties. Firstly, the "Same Time, Next Year" actor has never stopped working, still showing up on set and signing up for movie and TV roles. Furthermore, Burstyn has also kept up certain fun yet productive hobbies. "I read an awful lot. I go to concerts. I play with my friends, have people over," Burstyn exclusively shared with Interview. If there was anyone more well-equipped to teach others how to live a long, fulfilling life, it's certainly Ellen Burstyn.
