Jenna Bush Hager Doesn't Sweat 'Random' Rumors About Herself - But One Did Upset Her

As the daughter of a former president, Jenna Bush Hager knows a thing or two about laughing off public speculation. Bush Hager can't escape relationship rumors about her marriage to Henry Chase Hager, but she hasn't let that get to her. For example, she wasn't fazed, even after people called them "weird" for not cohabitating before marriage.

However, there was one rumor that did get under the talk show host's skin. "I was a young person, and remember when the peasant shirts were in?" Hager revealed during a 2026 episode of "Today with Jenna & Sheinelle" [05:07]. "And it was like 'a source close to Jenna Bush says she is indeed pregnant.' I was like, 'I thought I had just reached my goal weight ... I look pregnant?'"

Bush Hager was young when that rumor hurt her. However, since then, she's followed the lead of celebs who have expertly clapped back at body shaming haters, and spoken openly about the harm of speculation over people's weight and health. "We need to stop commenting on women's bodies. Period," she said during a 2023 episode of "Today with Hoda & Jenna" while discussing gossip over pop star Ariana Grande's changed body.

Jenna Bush Hager has been candid about struggles with her weight

In the past, TV personality Jenna Bush Hager has been forthright about her attempts to lose weight and to practice self acceptance. Her weight has fluctuated somewhat over the years, and she has admitted that she struggled with accepting her body, even as a child. "I found a journal over Christmas break where in fourth grade my New Year's resolution was to lose 5 pounds," she told People in 2023.

These days, Bush Hager is leaning into shifting her focus to how her body feels, rather than fretting excessively about how it looks. She might be upping her vegetable intake, but Bush Hager made the refreshing choice to avoid Ozempic. "I don't own a scale," Bush Hager revealed during a 2023 episode of "Today with Hoda & Jenna." "I don't want to be beholden to some number on a machine that makes me feel bad ... Why would we waste our one precious life thinking about our body not being good enough?" She explained that she's committed to modeling a healthy body relationship for her daughters, as well as giving her energy and focus to more worthwhile subjects.
