Side-By-Side Pics Of Chelsea Clinton And Mom Hillary Will Have You Seeing Double
At first glance, Chelsea Clinton, who has undergone a full transformation, looks nothing like her famous parents, Hillary or Bill Clinton. Instead, she seems to possess a look that's entirely her own. But who would have thought a deep dive into the political archives could uncover a different story? A discovery of photos reveals a young Hillary Clinton bearing a striking resemblance to her future offspring, suggesting those familiar features were there all along.
In 1969, Hillary Rodham (later Hillary Rodham Clinton) was featured in a "Life" magazine story titled "The Class of '69." It included a black-and-white photo (below) of the former First Lady at the Rodham family home when she was 21 years old. At the time, Hillary wore her hair long and styled with a mini bouffant — a look that highlighted a leaner, more oval-shaped face and noticeably fuller lips. In side-by-side photos with Chelsea (left photo via The Cut), the resemblance becomes clear, showing they have similarly shaped brows, nose, and lips, and a shared underlying bone structure.
Though the mom-daughter duo has always shared similar blue eyes and endearing smiles, Chelsea's features appeared to have only grown closer to her mother's with age. Still, younger photos of Hillary reveal the similarities existed between the two before. When the former secretary of state shared a throwback photo of herself on Instagram to mark her 78th Birthday in October 2025, some fans were quick to notice the resemblance. "I hadn't realized how much Chelsea resembled you until I saw this image of a very young Hillary!" an IG follower commented.
Chelsea and Hillary share more than a resemblance
Beyond their physical similarities, Chelsea and mom Hillary share several personal and professional commonalities. Chelsea, who once stated "my mom is my hero" in a 2015 "Today" feature, has long followed in her footsteps.
Similar to her mother's long-centered career on advocacy for women and children, Chelsea — who earned her master's degree in public health (MPH), and philosophy (MPhil), and a doctor of philosophy (PhD) in international relations – has also concentrated on areas of public health and service, and humanitarian issues with a focus on children. She has authored and co-authored well over 90 best-selling non-fiction children's books, including two collaborations with her mother, namely "The Book of Gutsy Women: Favorite Stories of Courage and Resilience" (2019) and "Grandma's Gardens" (2020).
"I love and admire my mom," she said during a "Today" interview in support of Hillary's 2016 Democratic presidential campaign. "I believe as more and more Americans hear from her, they'll come to know why I'm so proud to be my mother's daughter." The two continue to share a close bond, one that has only deepened since Chelsea Clinton, who is married to investor Marc Mezvinsky, became a mother and Hillary a grandmother. "We're in contact even if we don't speak every day," Chelsea told "Stylist" during a joint feature. "It's texting, emailing, speaking, and visiting. I'm just so grateful that she lives close enough that I can come see her all the time, which I do," Hillary added. Although Chelsea teased that her visits were "mainly about the grandchildren," Hillary said it was a little bit of both. "Well, it's largely about the grandchildren but, you know, I get some ancillary benefit to see my daughter. She's never said, 'No, don't come.' So it's been a special treat for us."
