Side-By-Side Pics Of Sophie, Duchess Of Edinburgh Prove She's Aging Like Fine Wine
In contrast to certain scandal-ridden members of the royal family, Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh, has largely kept a more understated, though respectable presence in the public eye. Although she may occasionally snatch the headlines for wearing inappropriate outfits not fit for the palace, Sophie has drawn attention for her appearance. Since having her life completely transformed after marrying Prince Edward (the late Queen Elizabeth II's youngest child) in 1999, the Duchess has been aging like fine wine before our very eyes, and the image below proves it.
Sophie is pictured in 1999 (left), the year she officially joined the royal family, and in 2025 (right). The Duchess clearly shows signs of aging, especially in the surrounding eye and mouth area, and on the skin of her neck. Sophie, who is now in her 60s at the time of reporting, certainly looks amazing for her age and seems to have embraced natural aging. If she has had any work done to her face over the years, it appears to have been minimal. Moreover, the Duchess' barely-there makeup looks has also worked in her favor in making her look younger. But Sophie has not publicly admitted whether she's had plastic surgery or any other cosmetic procedure, though that has not prevented eagle-eyed experts from speculating.
Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh, does a whole lot more to maintain her appearance
Although Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh, has publicly revealed that her go-to beauty brand is Trish McEvoy, plastic surgeon Dr. Amir Sadri believes there's more than just top-notch beauty products to thank for her appearance. The London-based face specialist shared his expert opinion with the Daily Express, claiming that the duchess has not gone under the knife or had any other invasive procedures. "She looks very natural for her age and has not tried to turn back time but just look the best version of herself," Dr. Sadri shares with the publication. Yet the plastic surgeon also noted that Sophie may have gotten Botox and a chemical peel to keep looking her best for public events.
But it seems Sophie's radiant glow could also be caused by her healthy lifestyle, which she uses to stay in tip-top shape. The duchess apparently keeps a close eye on what she eats, sticking to "a diet of plant-based foods and lean protein" which "has had a huge impact on the appearance of skin", details Lily Simpson, owner of meal delivery company The Detox Kitchen, exclusively to the Daily Mail (per Hello!). Alongside healthy eating habits, Sophie allegedly pairs it with a workout regimen that's kept her active. According to personal trainer Jeremiah Daniel, who spoke exclusively with the Daily Express, the Duchess "regularly undertakes cardiovascular workouts and enjoys playing tennis". So if anyone wants to know how to get into exercising in your 50s and beyond, it seems Sophie has more than a few pointers.
