In fact, the Colorado politician's black frames are so iconic that she's practically unrecognizable when she appears without them. In a 2025 Instagram selfie, Boebert looks like a totally different person as she smiles for the camera sans glasses. What seems like a small change actually transforms her face dramatically, like the rom com trope where removing a nerdy character's glasses suddenly reveals her to be the movie's leading lady.

There are rumors that Boebert's glasses are prescription lenses. A since deleted post on X reads: "Lauren Boebert doesn't actually need prescription eyeglasses, she just wears them to look smarter" [via Glam]. If she is wearing lenses as a personal branding strategy, it's a move with solid evidence behind it. In fact, numerous studies have determined that people who wear eyeglasses, particularly rimmed ones like Boebert's, are perceived to be smarter. But the attempt to look "nerdy chic" is in strange contrast to other elements of her style, including Boebert's leggiest, head-turning looks that are more pin-up than librarian.

But while Congressman Lauren Boebert might have figured out how to wear glasses to make herself look "nerdy chic," she hasn't been as successful at nailing other parts of her political wardrobe. On many occasions, Boebert has worn spicy outfits to work, revealing lots of leg or major cleavage. There's no indication that Boebert works with a stylist, but perhaps she should, especially if she hopes to someday advance to the Senate.

Her eyebrows are often penciled in too heavily, and her smoky eye makeup is better suited to a night at a club than a day at the office. Boebert also can't seem to nail her fake tan, and often looks more orange than sun-kissed. The uncanny look has some internet users wondering if this is her way of serving Mar-a-Lago face. "She went 1000% on the fake tan and the teeth bleaching or porcelain veneers to get in with the Trumpians," wrote one Reddit user.
