Jamie Lee Curtis Gave Up On Hiding Her Gray Hair & The Natural Look Suits Her So Well
Jamie Lee Curtis is someone who doesn't mince her words and her refreshing and honest reflections on plastic surgery have extended to her hair philosophy. While other female celebs, like Reese Witherspoon, are having stunning hair transformations, Curtis counts as one of the rare few among her Hollywood peers who has embraced her natural graying hair color. In fact, her gray pixie cut has become iconic and synonymous with the "Knives Out" star's image, making her instantly recognizable globally.
The two-time Golden Globe winner did not start to rock her gray hair until the 2000s, but before that, she went through a struggle that eventually pushed her down the hair journey she's going through now. In an exclusive sit-down with Lorraine Kelly on her UK-based ITV breakfast show, the "Halloween" actor got candid about why she opted to go gray. "So very early on in my career, I had a perm, and then had to dye my hair for a movie, and it burned my hair off my head." That was enough for the "Blue Steel" star, and after cutting her hair short and realizing how good she looked, she never looked back. And as seen in the picture above, from a 2026 Instagram post, she doesn't seem to regret her decision.
There's only one reason why Jamie Lee Curtis would change her hair
While Jamie Lee Curtis has been more than content with letting her natural hair be, her occupation can sometimes necessitate a change in appearance. In a post she made on Instagram on March 31, 2026, Curtis debuted a tousled blond bob. She posted it underneath a picture of her younger self in one of her very first roles, as an unnamed waitress in an episode of "Columbo." In the post, the "Freaky Friday" star reminisced about how far she's come in her career, and implied that her hairstyle transformation in the bottom picture was for the thriller series "Scarpetta" (released in March, 2026).
Fans in the comments were effusive with praise and positivity, not only about her career, but also about her stark change. "Stunning," an Instagram user commented. "Such a beauty!!" said another user. But one user pointed out humorously, "Bottom picture looking like someone rich auntie." And it seemed the change was only temporary, as the actor's Instagram account shows that she was back to her signature pixie cut by early April, with a post showing an unfiltered close-up of the "My Girl" star returning home from a busy shooting schedule. Curtis, who won an Oscar for her role in "Everything Everywhere All At Once," has never changed her stance on beauty and aging, and this only proves it.
