Dakota Johnson Can't Avoid Rumors About Her Love Life

While Dakota Johnson is known for her enviable cool-girl outfits and iconic cool-girl hair looks, it's her love life that's been making headlines. Ever since her almost eight-year relationship with Coldplay frontman Chris Martin ended in June 2025, it seems the "Fifty Shades of Grey" star has not given up on love, as she's now bagged another musician beau. Singer-songwriter Role Model, whose real name is Tucker Pillsbury, has been linked to the actor since December 2025, when TMZ published photos of the pair out at dinner with friends. According to sources close to the couple, Johnson's new relationship might be better than her relationship with Martin, which they described as 'hot and cold'.

"[Johnson and Role Model] are very much on the same page," the insider exclusively tells People, "and it just feels easy. She thinks he's cute and he treats her incredibly well." And it seems things are truly going well for the couple, as photos from April 2026 show the two getting affectionate with each other while out on a date. What's more, Role Model has even received a stamp of approval from Johnson's mother, Hollywood legend Melanie Griffith. In an Instagram clip, Griffith was asked about her thoughts on Role Model as she climbs into her car, to which she simply stated, "I think he's fabulous."

Dakota Johnson hasn't had much luck in love before Role Model

Being Hollywood royalty since birth, Dakota Johnson has lived under the glare of the spotlight for most of her life. As such, her entire romantic history is public record, and she hasn't had much luck in that department, even before she met Chris Martin. The "Madame Web" actor was first noted to have dated Jordan Masterson, who is an actor himself and a member of the Church of Scientology. The relationship lasted from 2012 to 2014, with reasons for the split apparently stemming from his discomfort at the overtly explicit nature of Johnson's headlining role in the "Fifty Shades of Grey" series, which clashed with his religious beliefs. He even attempted to convince Johnson to convert to Scientology, but that didn't pan out.

After cutting things off with Masterson, the "Materialists" star embarked on an on-and-off romance with model and indie rocker Matthew Hitt. The relationship started in July 2014 and was officially over by 2016. While it was never outright confirmed what caused their breakup, sources close to the former couple implied that their high-flying careers might be to blame. "They didn't get a chance to see much of each other recently because their work schedules didn't align," a source exclusively informed Just Jared. After Hitt came Chris Martin, and we all know how that ended. Now that Johnson is moving on with Role Model, we can only hope that things work out for the two.
