Kate Middleton's Mom Loves This Shoe That Was Once-Forbidden In Front Of The Queen

Carole Middleton, mother of Kate Middleton, has got quite the sense of style. It's easy to see where her daughter, who has become a fashion icon, gets it from. Although Kate once made an inappropriate fashion faux that even William called out, she typically follows the fashion rules and looks great while doing so. One interesting fashion rule is that wearing wedges in front of Queen Elizabeth II was once forbidden. But Carole and her daughter both love wearing wedges.

An insider told Vanity Fair in 2015, "The queen isn't a fan of wedged shoes. She really doesn't like them, and it's well known among the women in the family." However, Carole regularly wears wedges, especially when attending outdoor events, such as Wimbledon. At the tennis event in 2021, Carole wore a red sundress, a straw hat, and neutral wedges. She looked stunning in the outfit, with each piece complementing each other.

Kate Middleton also loves to wear wedges

Kate Middleton has undergone quite the style transformation. She's often looked to for her fashion choices, and the outfits she wears sometimes sell out in just a couple of hours after they've been revealed. For example, according to Hello!, the fuchsia pink Seraphine dress she wore for her first official portrait with Prince William and Prince George sold out in just two hours. But even Kate has broken a royal fashion rule or two.

Just like her mother, Kate loves a wedge shoe. She has worn cork wedge shoes a few times, including at the 2012 Olympic Games in London and during a royal tour of Australia and New Zealand. We're not sure how the queen felt about this, but she was not present during these events. According to Vogue Australia, there are also a few other fashion rules royal women typically must follow, including not wearing bright nail polish and wearing hats or headpieces in public (except after 6 p.m.).
