Summer is the season of bare feet. Whether you're headed to the beach with one of our favorite beach reads or stepping out in a pair of flip flops, a pedicure that ensures your feet are looking neat and polished is essential. Increasingly, nail technicians are finding ways to advance nail and cuticle care so feet look elegant. "Overall, the biggest shift is that pedicures are becoming more technical, more precise, and more results-driven," Lisa Kon, founder of Lisa Kon Nail Studio, told Women exclusively.

These days, trends are focused less on trendy colors, and more on classic styles that make your feet look subtly elevated. "Clients are investing in quality over trends, and professionals who master technique will define the industry," explained Kon. The ethos is very 'your feet but better.' That means, selecting the right color at the salon is only one small part of nailing your summer 2026 pedicure.

Subtle luxury pedicures

Nailing your color choice is just a small part of getting a pedicure that's perfectly on trend. The hottest pedicures look luxurious and sophisticated because the technician pays careful attention to every step of the process. "We'll see a strong shift toward ultra-clean, refined aesthetics," nail artist Lisa Kon told Women exclusively. "This means perfectly detailed cuticle work, flawless nail plate preparation, and a very natural, elegant finish." If you're doing your pedicure at home, round out your nail kit with a Professional Cuticle Trimmer and a Revlon Shape 'N' Buff Nail Block and spend plenty of time on prepping your nails before you paint them.

Kon expects this trend will drive an increased demand for Russian manicures, which create a natural look. "They focus on meticulous e-file work and long-lasting results," she explained. Such thorough nail work is time-consuming, but it results in an expensive, sophisticated pedicure that elevates your feet. "When the cuticle work is done properly, the entire manicure looks cleaner and wears better," Juanita Huber-Millet, founder of the nail salon Townhouse, told Harpers Bazaar.

There's also a trend toward subtle washes of color that create a semi-sheer, hyper-glossy effect. Instead of slopping on thick layers of a color, which can feels almost as bad as it looks, technicians are using formulas designed to last without such heavy application. "Clients are moving away from heavy, thick coatings and toward thin, precise applications that look expensive and grow out beautifully," Lon said. "We'll continue to see a move toward ultra-thin, flexible coatings."

Skin-focused pedicure treatments

Pedicures are expanding beyond the toes to focus on holistic care so your feet look good all summer long. "Pedicures are becoming more about skin health than just polish," nail artist Lisa Kon told Women exclusively. "Advanced techniques like dry hardware pedicure (instead of soaking), precise callus removal, and targeted treatments for dry or cracked skin are becoming the new standard." There are a few products that can help you achieve this look at home, like the Baby Foot Original Exfoliation Foot Peel, which helps smooth calluses and leaves feet soft and glowing.

That helps to explain the growing popularity of medical pedicures — or medi-pedis — that specifically treat deeper foot problems. "That could be severely dry, callused heels or specific conditions like foot odor, or fungal infections," nail technician Faye Dennis told Refinery29. "Foot health is always our priority, so there is always a prescriptive, targeted approach that delivers both immediate and lasting results."

Minimalistic, natural colors

Don't expect a slew of bright, tropical nail polish colors all over your favorite nail artist's feed this year. Instead, pedicure color trends will be more muted, as subtle sophistication continues to dominate beauty and fashion trends. "We're seeing a move toward: sheer milky tones, soft pinks and nudes, [and] high-gloss, almost glass-like, finishes," nail artist Lisa Kon told Women exclusively. "The goal is healthy-looking nails with a subtle glow, rather than bold or overly decorative designs. This aligns with a broader luxury trend — understated, but perfected."

Using chrome powder for the ultimate glazed donut finish continues to be popular, as does the ultimate minimalist manicure trend: soap nails. You can achieve that natural-looking glow at home with a soft nude-pink, like OPI Nail Lacquer Classic in Bubble Bath, or a lightly tinted sheer gloss like Manicurist Active Glow Nail Polish. These colors are classic, pair beautifully with everything, and will emphasize your summer tan.
