The Gorgeous Transformation Of Hallmark Star Jill Wagner

Jill Wagner's career has spanned decades across nearly all corners of TV. She's taken on varied roles in shows like MTV's "Teen Wolf" and Paramount+'s "Lioness" (which she also executive-produced), as well as co-hosting more than 100 episodes of ABC's "Wipeout" and becoming a Hallmark and Great American Country holiday movie staple. "I'm proud of the life my husband and I have created for our girls. I have hustled my a** off in this business to get to where I am," she wrote on Instagram in 2026.

The super-busy star is a mom and also owns a Tennessee farm, proving it's possible to balance a thriving career and a happy family life. "I want to teach my girls that you can have it all," she told Great American Country (via Movieguide). "We can also be great mothers. It's not an easy combination, but it's certainly doable. Women do it every single day, and they do it beautifully," she added. Wagner is undoubtedly one of those women; her gorgeous transformation from a North Carolina girl with tire-store aspirations to a superstar actor confirms it.

1979: Jill Wagner was raised by her dad and grandmother

Jill Wagner was born in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, in 1979. She was predominantly raised by her dad and grandmother. In a 2022 Facebook post, Wagner reflected on her fractious relationship with her mom, Judy, "I know our relationship has been testing at times but always know I love you and appreciate your help and guidance with my own children," she wrote.

Wagner's dad owned a tire store when she was young, mimicking the early days of Joanna Gaines' gorgeous transformation. As she told Moments with Mercy, she thought her destiny was to take over the family business. But her life would take a very different path. "I decided to go to North Carolina State University and majored in Business with a minor in Marketing," she said.

One of the most pivotal moments in her life happened in 2002, after she graduated from college and headed to the West Coast to pursue her career. "I took a trip out to Los Angeles that never seemed to end," she explained. And it wasn't long before L.A. worked its magic, and the star landed a major small-screen gig.

2003: She landed a major TV job on 'Punk'd'

Jill Wagner landed her first TV gig in 2003 as a field reporter on Ashton Kutcher's prank-pulling MTV reality series "Punk'd." But while the role would be a long time coming for most, Wagner told Moments with Mercy that it was more of a chance encounter than a lifelong dream realized. "It wasn't an interest until later on in life," she said of acting. "I booked it and never looked back," she added. In 2022, Wagner shared a clip from the show on Instagram that showed her pranking Katie Holmes. "It was my first acting job. I was nervous, scared and excited. I knew after I finished this show I wanted to stay in LA and try to follow my dream of becoming an actress. Little did I know I would make it happen," Wagner wrote. You might want to see Holmes' style transformation.

The exposure Wagner got from "Punk'd" helped her land a single episode role on "Monk" in 2004, followed by appearances on "Dr. Vegas" and "Quintuplets." However, she later secured more notable TV roles, including playing Krista Starr in all 13 episodes of "Blade: The Series" from 2006. Wagner also enjoyed smaller roles in major shows like "Bones" and "Stargate: Atlantis," before landing a major gig that put her in front of a huge audience weekly and kept her employed for years.

2008: All eyes were on the star on 'Wipeout'

Though Jill Wagner was accustomed to acting by 2008, one of her most notable roles was as a TV host. She gained notoriety as a co-host (alongside John Henson and John Anderson) on ABC's obstacle course show "Wipeout," where she interviewed contestants and commented on their attempts at the show's physical challenges. "Wipeout" marked her first hosting gig. As she told Numéro Netherlands, "Hosting requires a totally different skill set. In some ways, it's much harder for me than playing any given role." She added, "If you are to give your opinion as a host, you can't hide behind a writer. It's you, and you are judged. I feel entirely more vulnerable hosting than I do acting. However, I love both fields."

Wagner stayed with "Wipeout" for three years but stepped down (for the first time) in 2011 to explore other passion projects. The actor-turned-host only had fond memories of the show, though, and gushed to Numéro Netherlands, "I loved hosting 'Wipeout' as we were outside, the course was fun to watch and I got to laugh all day. The people were interesting and I have always loved seeing someone succeed at a goal. It was a good time in my life."

2011: Jill Wagner settled into bad girl roles but struggled behind the scenes

Jill Wagner seemingly left "Wipeout" to focus on her acting role in MTV's "Teen Wolf." She appeared on the teen drama from 2011 to 2017 as the ruthless Kate Argent and told The List she had a lot of fun playing the bad-girl character. "I would sit in the chair for about an hour and a half each day, just so they could get my, I guess it's called a were-jaguar face on. And that was a lot of fun. It's just fun to play a character like that, because it gets you into the role," she said. Wagner hadn't totally turned her back on "Wipeout," though. She returned as co-host in 2012 before the show ended in 2013 (the series was later rebooted without the original hosts).

While Wagner's life seemed perfect on the outside, she admitted she was struggling behind the scenes. "I kind of went through a really down phase of my life where I was feeling really down and depressed and kind of lost, I would say lost would be the best word," she told Movieguide, sharing she yearned for a partner and a family amid her thriving career. "... I didn't quite understand what was wrong with me and why couldn't have those things," she said, sharing that she relied a lot on her Christian faith to pull her through the tough time.

2015: The actor made a major career change with Hallmark

Jill Wagner made a major career change in 2015 when she left the grittier roles behind and began appearing in wholesome Christmas movies. Her first was "Christmas in the Smokies," after which she signed with Hallmark. While we've noted some relationship red flags in Hallmark movies, Wagner had a good reason for joining the network. "I originally got involved with [Hallmark] because I asked my grandmother what she wanted me to do that I hadn't yet done in my career," Wagner told MediaVillage. She also told The List, "I certainly do love playing the good girl in the Christmas movies ... Because I think that's closer, obviously, to who I am, and it's not a far stretch. But it wasn't just holiday projects that Wagner got involved in, as she also appeared in "Pearl In Paradise" and the network's "Mystery 101" franchise.

But amid her huge success with Hallmark, Wagner was ready to leave city life behind. She and her partner, David Lemanowicz, moved to Tennessee after buying a 100-year-old farmhouse, which they renovated. "L.A. held a very special place in my heart for my twenties and my thirties. But I'm a small town girl at heart. That's where I feel comfortable," she told People. And she was happy to live a much slower life than the one she had carved in California. "I watch my cows, I garden, I go outside with the girls, we hike," she said of her rural lifestyle. Her big move didn't mean she stepped back from her acting career, though. She continued appearing in Hallmark TV movies and expanded her career with Great American Family (previously known as Great American Country) projects, including "A Merry Christmas Wish" and "Bringing Christmas Home."

2017: The star got married after reconnecting with her ex-boyfriend

Amid Jill Wagner's very busy career, she still found time for love. In 2017, Wagner returned to her home state of North Carolina to tie the knot with David Lemanowicz, an ex-hockey player turned Army Reserve officer. The two had originally dated years earlier, with Wagner telling Movieguide, "We actually met when I was 17 ... He comes back into my life, and we both actually found our faith again and realize how important it is in our relationship and not just...our personal relationship with God but our relationship with one another."

The star, who proved why it's sometimes okay to get back with your ex, shared a gorgeous throwback wedding photo on Facebook and wrote in the caption, "One of the happiest days of my life surrounded by friends and family." Not only did walking down the aisle make Wagner a wife, but it also made her a stepmom to Lemanowicz's daughter from a previous marriage, whom she often shows love to on social media. "Can't wait to have my step daughter Lija join us on our adventures!! Family is everything," Wagner told her Instagram followers in 2020.

She also gushed about her and Lemanowicz's sweet romance on their third wedding anniversary. The star shared multiple photos of herself and her husband on Facebook, writing, in part, "[Three] years today I married the love of my life and my best friend. You are the reason I am so happy ... You are my favorite and have always been since I was 17."

2020: She welcomed her first child during the pandemic, following a difficult fertility journey

In April 2020, Jill Wagner gave birth to her first child. She and David Lemanowicz became parents to daughter Army Gray Lemanowicz, and the star opened up about the difficulties of giving birth amid the restrictions of the Covid-19 pandemic. "Having to give birth in a mask was not ideal but the silver lining throughout was that it allowed my husband and me to have this one-on-one intimate time with [Army] before we brought her home with no distractions," she told People. The star also got candid about how she started to believe she may not have children of her own (she was 41 when she gave birth the first time). "It's such a beautiful time ... I just feel so lucky that I get to experience this in my lifetime because I didn't know if I was going to...because I had my kids late in life," Wagner told Movieguide.

The actor and occasional TV host, who joins our list of celebrities who have shared the realities of their fertility journeys, tried to fall pregnant in her early 40s. She told People she and Lemanowicz had been trying unsuccessfully for children for a while, so they booked an appointment with a fertility doctor (there are even options for those who want to wait to have kids). During the meeting, they discovered she was already pregnant. "It was shocking, scary and the best feeling in the world all at once!" Wagner said.

2021: The star became a mom for the second time and repaired her relationship with her mother

Jill Wagner and David Lemanowicz didn't waste time before welcoming their second child. A year to the month after they had Army Gray Lemanowicz, the twosome announced they were expecting again. Wagner confirmed their daughter Daisy Roberta Lemanowicz's birth on Instagram in August 2021 alongside a sweet, lengthy message for her husband and a black-and-white photo of them with their newborn.

She praised Lemanowicz for how he supported her amid her labor complications. "You made me feel safe, although my situation was not. I watched you care for our newest daughter during that time (while I could not) and I know she also felt safe in daddy's arms," Wagner wrote. "Our little flower was having complications too. My heart fell into a million pieces as we tried to process what was happening. And just like that, you moved into action to make sure both of your girls were taken care of," she continued, confirming Daisy went home a healthy baby after a difficult start to her life.

Becoming a mom also helped Wagner reconcile with her own mother. The "Bringing Christmas Home" actor shared a photo of herself and her mom on Facebook, writing, "I believe a mother/daughter relationship is one that blooms eventually as you see one another as woman to woman." She added, "I respect you in a new way now that I am a mother myself."

2022: Jill Wagner looked almost unrecognizable after cutting off her hair

Jill Wagner was ready for a new career challenge amid her busy personal life. She executive-produced and acted in the Paramount+ series "Lioness" alongside Nicole Kidman and Zoe Saldaña. The series, which debuted in 2022, follows women in the military and saw Wagner undergo a drastic physical transformation to play the hard-as-nails character Bobby. After sporting long, brunette locks for the majority of her career, she cut several inches for a practical and inspiring pixie cut that left her nearly unrecognizable.

She documented the process on Facebook, writing, "I just got my hair CHOPPED and I can't tell you how liberating it was ... I encourage you guys to go out and try something that takes you out of your comfort zone.. Sometimes it's just what you need to feel more connected to yourself." She also gave fans a better look at her new 'do in another Facebook upload, which showed her short tresses pushed to one side of her head, with a buzzcut on the other.

The "Christmas Under the Northern Lights" actor had undergone a major physical transformation, too. She told Parade she trained for two years to reach the fitness level viewers saw in "Lioness" Season 2. "It was intense and one of the hardest things I've ever done," she said. "I looked at many CrossFit women on Instagram and wanted to model my body after them. I quickly realized how hard it is, and I respect all the fitness models and CrossFit trainers."

2026: Jill Wagner expanded her career beyond acting

Despite seeing major success with "Lioness," Jill Wagner wasn't quite ready to leave her beloved Christmas movies behind. In 2025, she appeared in the Great American Family TV movie "Christmas at the Inn" alongside ex-"90210" star Tate Donovan. She shifted gears again the following year, though, when she teamed up with Kerry Washington and Elisabeth Moss in the Apple TV drama "Imperfect Women." But this ever-busy star also had a major, lucrative new undertaking away from the acting world. She confirmed on Instagram that her Tennessee farm, Scott Mansion Farms, would be available for hire for events — no wonder Celebrity Net Worth puts her net worth at $4 million!

That same year, she gave an update on "Lioness" Season 3 and made it clear she was happier than ever as a busy working mom. "I am fully aware that I am living in 'the sweet spot' and I'm allowing myself to drench myself in it," she wrote on Instagram. "There is a reason I do what I do ... I'm finding it day by day," she added.

Whatever the next chapter in Wagner's transformation holds, though, she's happy to let Jesus take the wheel. "As I have gotten older, I find myself not planning as much. I let life take me where needed, and I just try to hang on," she told Numéro Netherlands. "I can't say what I will be doing in 5 years or even what I wish to be doing. I just know I want to enjoy my family and friends, and feel fulfilled creatively, whatever that means at that time in my life. I go where God leads me," she said.
