Up Close Look At Marjorie Taylor Greene's Cakey Matte Makeup Is Jarring

Marjorie Taylor Greene has been having a very interesting 2026 thus far, with major upheavals tearing through her political career as she makes a public exit from Trump's faction. Although it still isn't certain whether this breakup is genuine or simply a publicity stunt, there can be no denying that Greene has committed some unfortunate makeup mistakes in the past. However, she's at least keeping things consistent as she makes yet another makeup faux pas. In a recent exclusive feature with The New York Times, a close-up photo of Greene staring intensely into the camera — no doubt meant for dramatic effect — instead highlighted the pitfalls of her makeup techniques.

The matte look really did her no favors here. Under the harsh lighting, Greene's skin appeared dehydrated and almost crepey, and she looked particularly dry around her eyes. It also looked as if she overdid it with the bronzer, so much so that she appeared to be sporting a bad suntan. Greene — or whoever did her makeup — seemed to have not gotten the memo to moisturize well before putting on foundation, especially if you want to achieve a flawless finish on mature skin, as Greene is in her early 50s. If she had paid special attention to her problem areas instead of slapping on a thick layer of foundation, she might have been more camera-ready.

Marjorie Taylor Greene has something to say against cosmetic surgeries

The former U.S. Representative has clearly shown that she isn't one to keep her less-than-positive opinions of her once-peers under wraps. Although she has kept mum about the routine that has led to her makeup disasters, Greene has publicly decried the Mar-a-Lago face trend that's swept up conservative women such as Kristi Noem and Lara Trump. The trend is marked by heavy makeup, overfilled lips and cheeks, complete with eerily straight teeth that are artificially bright. Greene claimed in the New York Times exclusive that such cosmetic surgeries were done to conform to the standards of the MAGA crowd.

"I never liked the MAGA Mar-a-Lago sexualization," Greene exclusively shared with the New York Times. She adds further, "I have two daughters, and I've always been uncomfortable with how those women puff up their lips and enlarge their breasts." Although Greene has left the Mar-a-Lago storm relatively unscathed, it seems that she's undergone a noticeable face transformation of her own. And while this change is subtle and more gradual, we can only hope her makeup skills follow this trajectory as well — hopefully for the better.
