Heather Graham Is Unapologetically Childless By Choice & We Love The Honesty

There are plenty of celebrities who are unapologetically childless by choice (and we love them for it). It's so important to recognize that motherhood isn't for everyone and that's okay. While some people seem like they were born to be mothers, others have a different path. Whether a woman wants to travel the world, focus on her career, or be a role model to others who aren't her offspring, that's totally her choice. We all know of famous women, like Oprah Winfrey, who is unapologetically child-free by choice, and Heather Graham is another celebrity who has spoken out about being the same, and we love her honesty.

On a March 2026 episode of "The Bossticks," Graham said of motherhood, "I think it's great to do it if you have this love in your heart and you want to give it to kids. But, I don't think everyone should feel obligated." We agree with her that having kids can be a rewarding experience, but that society should not force a woman to have kids. She also added that the idea of women needing to start families is "sexist." The actress, 56, also said the following about being child-free: "I think that the culture is more accepting of it now."

Heather previously said she is glad she's never had children

In an April 2025 interview with The Guardian, Graham opened up about her upbringing and her decision to be child-free. She revealed that she is estranged from her parents, who she said were "judgmental" and "authoritarian." She also revealed that she has wondered what it would have been like to have kids, stating, "I guess I would say 80% of the time I feel glad I don't have kids, and I feel free and really good about it, and maybe 20% of the time I wonder what would it be like. You just have to appreciate the life you have." Graham has had a successful career as an actress, starring in hits such as "Austin Powers" and "Boogie Nights," and she seems to be enjoying her life, so we agree with her on that.

Graham then went on to say that it's "awesome" that more women are choosing to go against societal pressures and instead, be child-free. She wrote and directed a movie, "Chosen Family," which was released in 2024. The film is about a dysfunctional family and a people-pleaser who begins to say no. There are clear parallels with Graham's life, and she says it was cathartic to write. Graham is also in good company with other actresses, such as Anna Kendrick, who is refreshingly candid about her decision to remain childless by choice. We love women who are intentional about their desires in life.
