Valerie Bertinelli Has Some Candid Thoughts On Ozempic And Other GLP-1's
The popularity of weight loss drugs like Wegovy and Ozempic has been sweeping the entertainment industry. Side-by-side pictures of celebrities who have fallen victim to "Ozempic face" show that the phenomenon is becoming more popular by the minute and truly altering people's self-confidence, for the better and worse. Many have jumped at the opportunity to lose weight in a way that seems "easy," but at what expense does this come at? Though Valerie Bertinelli has worn some questionable outfits over the years, she is sure about her latest decision not to try GLP-1's just yet.
In an exclusive interview with People, Bertinelli revealed that she hasn't tried a GLP-1 for her weight loss journey, but was quick to show support to others who have used it. "I think whatever anybody does to help themselves get to a better place to where they feel good about themselves, they should do it," Bertinelli shared in her interview with the publication. She continued on to say that she's optimistic about it, even though, for now, it's a "no." "It doesn't mean I won't have a neck lift. It doesn't mean I won't try GLP-1's. [...] It means 'no' for now. It's also helped a lot of people," Bertinelli said. Similarly, she mentioned in the interview that she'd tried Botox before and didn't like it. However, she still sees the value it adds to other people's lives, as she does for GLP-1's.
Valerie Bertinelli joins a long list of celebs who have refused to take GLP-1's
With Bunnie Xo's GLP-1 experience exposes greater consequences than just "Ozempic face," it's safe to say that other celebrities are taking heed in more ways than one. Similar to Valerie Bertinelli, other stars have also been vocal about their journeys with the product, or, if they haven't tried it, why. This transparency has begun a new precedent in Hollywood where the pressure to be perfect and look a certain way is falling by the wayside. People's obsession with GLP-1's has even gone as far as accusing celebrities of using the weight loss supplement when they haven't.
Celebrities' openness has been a silver lining through the trend's popularity. Addressing the rumors, whether true or not, has allowed fans to see the humanity in celebrities. While many have decided to try GLP-1's for themselves, they've decided to stop after getting the results they were hoping for or quit because they felt the drug didn't work for them. If this trend continues, we may see more celebrities become more forthcoming with their journeys and actively inspire fans to seek healthier weight loss methods.
