Drew Barrymore's Three Failed Marriages Completely Changed Her
As the host of her eponymous talk show, "The Drew Barrymore Show", Drew Barrymore has not only showcased her bright personality to the world, but also her willingness to open up about some personal topics. Aside from her wild child reputation and being an iconic '90s Indie Sleaze Queen, it's no secret that the "Charlie's Angels" star has had a history of high-profile relationships that splattered the front pages of magazines. The veteran actor has since spilled the beans to Today about how her three failed marriages have affected her. Barrymore has adamantly stated that she would never walk down the aisle again and that marriage 'has not worked' for her.
"I never want to be entwined with someone like that again ever," the child actor shared with Today. The "E.T." star was briefly married to Jeremy Thomas (1994-1995), then to Tom Green (2001-2002), and finally to Will Kopelman (2012-2016). Despite calling Thomas 'the Devil' in a Rolling Stone exclusive, Barrymore remains amicable with Green and Kopelman. However, her divorce from Kopelman devastated her, and she revealed to People that she resorted to drinking. After being estranged from her late father for most of her life, Barrymore shared, "After the life I planned for my kids didn't work out — I almost think that was harder than the stuff [I went through] as a kid ... It was a messy, painful, excruciating walk through the fire and come back to life kind of trajectory."
Drew Barrymore's current stance on love
Despite the tumultuous ups and downs of her love life, Drew Barrymore has not totally given up on love. However, she's adopted a more 'come what may' attitude when it comes to romance. "I'm open to it; I'm not seeking it," the talk show host told Today. "My cup runneth over. I have so much love in my life." In fact, Barrymore revealed that she has tried out online dating. But her experience with it has been unsuccessful so far, which means she could've benefited from some top-notch tips for getting back into dating after divorce.
However, at this point, the "Santa Clarita Diet" actor is prioritizing her health, and as a result, she has particular standards for her next beau. Having struggled with alcohol addiction in the past, Barrymore wants her next partner to be sober. "[Drew] is dominated by her focus on healthy living," a source close to the actor informs Star. "She takes this stuff incredibly seriously and anybody who is entering her dating orbit has to as well." It's a reasonable ask, and with the continued success of her talk show, things are looking bright for Barrymore.
