Yesteryear by Caro Claire Burke
What started as an escapist idea quickly turns into a time-traveling disaster in Caro Claire Burke's "Yesteryear". Readers follow the journey of Natalie Heller Mills, a wife and mother of six children. When she decides to sell her country lifestyle to her huge social media following, she suddenly wakes up one day in 1855. The book takes you through the twists and turns as Mills tries to find her way back to her old life while adapting to elements of her unexpected new one. Though the book is set to release on April 7th, fans have already begun discussing the story. On Reddit, users went back and forth on the ending, with some finding it confusing and others boasting that they thought the book was amazing.
The story is even being adapted into a movie being produced by and starring Anne Hathaway. Hathaway even gave fans a teaser on Instagram with an unboxing of the promotional assets for the book's release in late 2025. There has not been an official movie release date, but it is rumored to be released between later this year and 2027.
Mad Mabel by Sally Hepworth
Similar to "Yesteryear", "Mad Mabel" is another literary thriller that'll leave readers on the edge of their seats. This story follows the life of Elsie Mabel Fitzpatrick, who previously lived as Australia's most renowned convicted murderer under the name Mad Mabel Waller. Now, as an elderly woman who's held onto this secret for decades, she's faced with adversity as questions about a neighbor's sudden death begin to swirl. With a new neighbor across the street, a nemesis who seemingly has it out for Elsie, and the public interest from the media and the police department, Elsie has her hands full trying to ensure that her past stays private. As well as the mystery of whether or not she was the one who committed the crime.
This book provides a quirky perspective on ageism and how older people tend to be underestimated. Previously released in Australia and New Zealand, the book will be available in the United States and the United Kingdom on April 21st. Users on Goodreads gushed about the book, describing it as one that exceeded expectations. "It is a beautiful story full of deep and fascinating characters. When I started this book I was under the false impression that it would be a light book about a senior serial killer. I was very wrong ... " one user commented, along with a 5-star review.
Dogs, Boys, and Other Things I've Cried About by Isabel Klee
When living life, it's easy to get caught up in the minutiae of the day-to-day and lose sight of how far you've truly come. Isabel Klee's "Dogs, Boys, and Other Things I've Cried About" is a memoir sure to warm your heart. She walks readers through her experience of moving to New York City in her early 20s and the lessons that she learned. Some of her experiences include her fondness for dogs and how this led her to her first job after graduating from college, which was assisting a dog photographer. From careers to dating to self-identity, Klee covers it all in a way that's totally raw and uncut.
This release is an April 2026 hopeful because of the heavy anticipation surrounding it, and Klee even took to social media to give fans a sneak preview of the book. In this video, she can be found reading an excerpt from the book for the audio version of its release. This novel is scheduled to be released on April 28th.
Wife Shaped Bodies by Laura Cranehill
Lauren Cranehill's "Wife Shaped Bodies" is your next great feminist sci-fi read, thanks to its eerie, attention-grabbing plot that dives deep into body horror while still maintaining beautiful prose. The book follows the life of Nicole, who is trapped in her home after being forbidden from leaving until she is married. The book takes an interesting turn when Nicole receives an unexpected visitor at her home, who introduces her to a rebellious way of living, especially compared to what she may be used to. As they navigate through this book, readers can look forward to a journey of self-discovery.
One Goodreads reviewer who received an advanced copy of the book wrote, "This is one of the most haunting and beautifully written dystopian novels. Cranehill creates a world that feels both familiar and otherworldly, where women are part fungi living in a compound overseen by men who are farmers and mycologists [...]." This book tackles sexual liberation in a unique way that readers won't want to put down, and is set to be available for purchase on the April 14th, 2026.
