Funny lady Wendi McLendon-Covey isn't about to let her youthful appearance wither away into oblivion without a fight. The "Bridesmaids" star revealed that she ditched the 2026 Oscars for a much-needed neck lift. "I had a neck lift last week because I'm tired of looking like a melting candle," she joked on a March 16 Instagram post. "So I had to skip the Academy Awards. No drama. Everything is fine."
Known for her roles on "The Goldbergs" and "Reno 911!" McLendon-Covey, now in her late '50s, continues to maintain an active acting career. She currently stars in the NBC mockumentary series "St. Denis Medical", makes occasional TV appearances, and recently joined the "Dinner's On Me" and "I Sad No Gifts!" podcasts. It's no surprise she's committed to keeping up with her appearance – as opposed to some celebs who have been vocal about avoiding plastic surgery.
The actor's absence at the March 15 Oscars event didn't go unnoticed, especially during a mini "Bridesmaids" reunion onstage with her co-stars Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Maya Rudolph, Rose Byrne, and Ellie Kemper, who presented the award for Best Score. In case fans were wondering why she wasn't part of the hilarious Oscars skit that her fellow comedians brought to the stage, McLendon-Covey shared an update alongside a post-surgery photo on social media, still wearing bandages from the cosmetic procedure. Many followers showed full support for her bold choice. "Congratulations queen, I cannot WAIT to see her. (Your neck)," a person wrote. Another commented, "Yes to a gorgeous neck & honesty," followed by a clapping hand emoji.
The Beauty Secrets Behind Other Bridesmaids Cast Members
While we love McLendon-Covey's honesty, particularly in a landscape where many aren't so candid about undergoing cosmetic procedures, she appears to be the only "Bridesmaids" cast member to openly admit to going under the knife. Others, such as Melissa McCarthy and Maya Rudolph, however, have shared more understated approaches to maintaining their appearance.
In a 2021 interview with Allure, Maya Rudolph revealed that she uses the Pause Fascia Stimulating Tool, a non-invasive skincare device designed to improve face elasticity and minimize sagging. "My friend and makeup artist Molly Stern turned me onto it. It's amazing," she said, adding that she pairs it with Saint Jane Luxury CBD Beauty Serum for a radiant glow. She also incorporates Face Gym exercises into her routine to help with jawline definition. "I also follow Face Gym on Instagram and practice their exercises to help with drainage and jawline tightening. I have no idea if it's working, but it feels so good," she said.
Melissa McCarthy, on the other hand, has undergone a drastic weight loss transformation with the help of diet and exercise. In a 2015 Life & Style interview, she'd reportedly lost 50 pounds after martial arts training for the movie "Spy". "It may be the best thing I've ever done. I feel amazing!" she told the outlet at the time. By 2018, McCarthy told People she had lost 70 pounds in four months while filming "Gilmore Girls," following a doctor-supervised all-liquid diet. As seen in her recent Oscars appearance, her weight loss transformation has totally changed her face, with visibly more sculpted, leaner features and a slimmer overall appearance.
