Mayim Bialik Was Changed Forever After Her Divorce

Mayim Bialik is best known as Amy Farrah Fowler on "The Big Bang Theory," where she appeared from 2010 to 2019, earning four Emmy nominations. Although her career was thriving, behind the scenes she struggled with her marriage. In November 2012, Bialik announced her divorce from her husband of nine years, Michael Stone. The split was finalized in May 2013 and seems to have changed the actress in many ways — including for the better.

After the divorce, Bialik made her kids and co-parenting her top priority, as she alluded to in 2016 on her website, Grok Nation. Although she and her ex-husband have their differences, they made an effort to speak kindly about one another in front of their kids, and they still spent holidays together as a family. Bialik also leaned in on her Jewish faith as a source of stability. In a 2013 Kveller essay, she detailed the religious divorce process, in which she obtained a "get," which is a traditional Jewish divorce document. She wrote: "The term 'closure' has never made more sense to me than in the get proceeding."

Exercising was also a key coping strategy for the star, although she didn't specify whether she has a workout buddy (even one who constantly flakes) or goes solo. In another post for Kveller, she advised: "You will likely have a ton of angry and hurt feelings as divorce proceeds ... Exercise helps with all of these emotions." We at Women know how good exercising makes us feel, so we definitely agree with Bialik. And after being single for at least seven years, Bialik eventually found love again.

Bialik is dating someone new as her career continues to flourish

As of 2026, Bialik seems to be doing well, having her family, fitness and mental health all in check. And her career? The onetime teen star of "Blossom" produced and starred in "Call Me Kat" from 2021 to 2023, while sharing hosting duties for "Jeopardy!" those same years. In 2022, she even wrote and directed her first film, "As They Made Us", about a divorced mom juggling her family's needs and her own quest for love. Perhaps she used her own life as an inspiration.

And Bialik went on to find new love with Jonathan Cohen, now one of the real-life partners of "The Big Bang Theory's" leading ladies. Although it's unclear when the two started dating, they've been together since at least 2020. Cohen seems to understand Bialik's family dynamics, as he is also a divorced parent. The two seem to have a passion for healing and mental health (with or without a psychologist's advice), as they co-host a podcast called "Mayim Bialik's Breakdown."

The podcast often invites professionals and celebrities to talk openly about issues such as trauma, anxiety, and grief. Bialik and Cohen also share their own experiences on the podcast. For example, she speaks about her history with anxiety in hopes of normalizing conversations about mental health, according to Vanity Fair. She also uses her science background — she has a doctorate in neuroscience — to provide medical insights. We're glad to have someone with so much experience opening up these kinds of conversations.
