These Chelsea Clinton Outfits Never Should Have Left Her Closet

Former first daughter Chelsea Clinton has undergone a full transformation. She won our hearts over as the daughter of former first couple Bill and Hillary Clinton, whose marriage has some glaring red flags. She has a mega-watt smile and does so much good for society, we can't help but love her. Chelsea, for those who don't know, is now an author and philanthropist. While we love to follow her work, we also can't help but pay attention to her fashion choices.

When she was a teenager, she had her awkward phase, just like everyone else. As she grew older, Chelsea's style became refined and she often wears classic looks today. However, there have been some instances where her fashion picks failed to land. Whether they contain too much color and odd prints, or are ill-fitting, some of Chelsea's outfits should have never left her closet.

We can't forget Chelsea Clinton's black mess of a dress

Chelsea Clinton attended the Dance Theatre of Harlem's Vision Gala in 2023 wearing a black Oscar de la Renta dress. Usually, we can trust de la Renta's designs, but this one totally missed the mark and did not work to flatter Clinton's frame at all. The waist line on the dress is lower than typical and it just seems to throw off her proportions. On top of that, the design of the dress itself makes it look like a piece of shredded, black fabric.

Chelsea Clinton's color block top was an eyesore

When Chelsea Clinton appeared at the Hearst Eco-Conscious Living Summit in 2024, she wore a color block top that was an eyesore! The top consisted of black, gray, cream, beige, blue, and yellow blocks. That's a lot of different colors for one piece of clothing, even if half of them are neutrals. This top reminds us of something we'd see in the abstract section of an art gallery, and that's not a good thing. Clinton would have been better off choosing a solid neutral top.

Her mismatched dress and blazer combo left a lot to be desired

When Chelsea Clinton was en route to "The Kelly Clarkson Show" in 2022, she sported a yellow, boho-looking dress with a structured, blue blazer. The corporate-esque blazer completely clashes with the flowy dress. Not only does each piece look like they could be worn at totally different events, but the colors also do not really match well. Her dress is yellow with pink flowers, while the blazer is a washed-out blue that doesn't match any of the colors on the dress.

Chelsea Clinton's dress could have doubled as paint splatter

Chelsea Clinton arrived at Variety's Power of Women: New York event in 2017 looking like a hot mess. This time around, her blue cardigan did match the color of her dress. Well, kind of. The dress has so many colors on it we can't keep track and the design literally looks like paint splatter. We'd like to know what she or her stylist was thinking when they chose this one. Again, we'd recommend that Clinton stick to solid designs or, at least, a cleaner print.

When Chelsea Clinton channeled Kim Kardashian

We often see leather in Hollywood. Kim Kardashian, who has had some stunning Met Gala looks, is known for wearing leather leggings, dresses, and skirts. Chelsea Clinton? Not so much. She did, however, appear at a 2024 event for the Center for Reproductive Rights wearing a black top with a black leather maxi skirt. She accessorized the look with multiple long necklaces, but it just doesn't look like something a former first daughter should wear to an event like this. Instead, it looks like she's getting ready to attend a concert.

Her monochrome outfit was boring

At the World Eating Disorder Action Day Summit in 2025, Chelsea Clinton opted for a business casual look. She paired a beige knitted top with brown crepe pants. She accessorized with a long, white Chanel pearl necklace. The outfit was a yawn fest and she seemed undressed compared to other attendees. While we love Clinton's advocacy efforts, especially for mental health and eating disorders, we don't always love her choice of outfits.
